Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Hmmm, they do that by default. At least in my IE browser they do (hand). What kind of OS and browser are you using? Also, mouse changes into question pointer (help) over any image that is clickable. Which links you had in mind, maybe I messed something somewhere.
Plainsboro (08536). Are you...
Either that, or they don't like that perticular species of hair algae, or they have some other tastier source of food, or, what I have observed in my tang, they do not like to pick it from growing corals.
This is a bit more of an introduction to my website about my tank then the tale of the tank itself ;D, which you can see at http://68.36.163.41/aqua/
Since this is still work in progress, comments and critique are more then wellcome.
Well, I have a mixed experience with my corals: it all depends on how fast is the stung coral growing. The stung tissue recedes and disappears, leaving the skeleton. At this point, this skeleton, in my tank, is the fighting ground between the coral that wants to reclaim it and algae. If the...
Disproving the false ones is very easy - just build a small contra-example. Giving a real mathematical proof of the right one is a bit harder :-\ (specially if, after 15 years of not doing that stuff, you get very rusty like me :'( )
Rics are probably even tougher (at least mine is). I butchered mine into several tiny pieces while trying to remove it from a crevice it anchored in. In the end, all of the pieces are surviving 2-3 weeks later. If you want them completely removed, use some kind of scalpel knife to pry/scrub them...
There is possibility that people go straight to the forums or PMs without either loading the home page or if they go through it, they might not register it on the page.
I am pretty much sure that plenty of people here are permanently logged on.
From what I see in your tank, you have mostly softies and LPS that do not require, even dislike, strong flow. Do you plan to keep the same type of corals or do you plan to add SPS?
The best solution if you are not lazy like me. If you are, then make sure you have plenty of bristle worms in the sand and find some hermits and nassarius snails and see if they would go after it. Redirecting the flow is questionable solution since then you will just displace them somewhere else...
Looking at the vote numbers, I would make a following suggestion, if you don't mind:
When asking people to vote, explicitely remind them that they could/should explicetely abstain if they wish so. That way you would be more able to discerne apaty about club business from ambiguity about...
6 months is a bit too much, specialy for hardy Euphyllia sp that do not require that much pristine water. Couple of months is sufficient if your water parameters stabilize.
Exactly. The whole thing is further complicated by the intensity and the spectrum of the lights, types of corals and water clarity. While it is safe to assume that big plating corals in the nature will be exposed to the full Sun light during the whole day, for branching corals you will have...
Really nice problem :) I made the same mistake and rushed to answer 4 like Carlo. That is the beuty of the problem - deceptivnes of the second part. You solve the first part in a couple of seconds (missing 4) and that blinds you to forget that knife belongs to one of the brothers. Cool.
p.s...
I just realised that we are talking about the Flame Angel ( duuh ::) ) . They are considerd somwhat herbivore, so offer it variety of "greens" : try nori, other types of dry seaweed, any macroalgae you might have and even hair algae if you have any in the tank. See if that will help.
I had the very same experience with one of my fish, but that might work only with the fish that is not shy but just not intersted or familiar with offered food. My fish was the largest in the tank and not shy at all so the "feeding frenzy" from my clowns and tangs enticed it to eat the same food...
