the tek light is alot better than the nova. there is a reason why it's cheaper.

i like them, but i haven't seen them do anything for nuisance algae unless they are starving. sometimes they will eat some xenia or other softies, but not enough to make you worry. actually, i see that as a blessing!

i would expect all those fluid-filled aptasia to *pop* in the micro, and splash all over.

i've used this for a couple years and it worked great(6500k, 23 watt)- but now i sometimes toss some xenia overgrowth in the refugium and so i use this(6500k, 125 watt)- (i've gotten the same amount of algae growth since)

don't forget the electric consumption from running 2 pumps as opposed to 1. i'd look for a giant used one.

Re: what eats Manjos i use kalkwasser paste. it works great. mix it real thick, put it in a syringe, turn off all flow, and shoot it right in the mouth. when it retracts, put another little glob over the place it was on the rock. you'll never see it again.

i don't think you'll need a chiller for a couple 250 watt halides. i had three 400 watters over my tank, plus 440 watts of vho, and i never break 80 degrees. i have a single 12" fan blowing between the lamps and the water, which seems to be enough. make the transition gradually though, or...
