i've owned a nova extreme pro fixture for a little under a year, and i'm going to need to open it up and possibly replace some endcaps because it seems as though i've got a bad connection. i have to prop one of the legs up about a half inch to get half the bulbs to fire. i'd spend a couple extra...
if you have found a disease that kills coralline algae and nothing else, i'd like to have some of it for my tanks. could you put some in a bag and mail it to me?
you mean copper loving inverts. ;)
how about, a tang that actually eats any and all macroalgae. briopsis, hair, that weird viny stuff that is unstoppable....i'd buy one of those. ;D
hi. i'm not sure about your issue, but i would like to inquire about it's skeleton. does the skeleton looks fragged? does it look like it was taken from a larger colony? if so, this is usually a good sign that it's actually an australian catalaphyllia. you see, the collectors there know the...
i like them, but i haven't seen them do anything for nuisance algae unless they are starving. sometimes they will eat some xenia or other softies, but not enough to make you worry. actually, i see that as a blessing!
no. thank you guys for having me!
i really had a nice time. i'm glad everything turned out ok. many thanks to the desimone clan for putting up with me. ;)
are you guys aware of the RR swap june 7th? i hope i'm not breaking a rule here-

i've used this for a couple years and it worked great(6500k, 23 watt)-
but now i sometimes toss some xenia overgrowth in the refugium and so i use this(6500k, 125 watt)-
(i've gotten the same amount of algae growth since)
Re: what eats Manjos
i use kalkwasser paste. it works great. mix it real thick, put it in a syringe, turn off all flow, and shoot it right in the mouth. when it retracts, put another little glob over the place it was on the rock. you'll never see it again.
i don't think you'll need a chiller for a couple 250 watt halides. i had three 400 watters over my tank, plus 440 watts of vho, and i never break 80 degrees. i have a single 12" fan blowing between the lamps and the water, which seems to be enough.
make the transition gradually though, or...
i got a deal on some live rock from a LFS going out of business, and they gave me a mollusk eating Oenone fulgida. i had to keep him busy with snails so he didn't try for my clams, until one day i caught him head first in a turbo snail shell ;)
i don't think that there is a huge difference between hqi and SE, but that's another thread. again, i'd save the electric, and go with the 250's.
btw...look what Santa brought!..it's Christmas in feb. ;D
and you think snails are beautiful? meanwhile, bristleworms are more beneficial than snails.
bristleworms----the common ones pictured above, do not get 4 feet long. now, are you speaking of any Polychaete worms? there are many i wouldn't want in my tank for different reasons, but not the one...
i don't feed my sps, but i give my lps a mixture of shrimp, scallops, and whatever else is on sale at the supermarket. i put it in a food processor and grind it to mush. i also mix in some cyclo-peeze, and misis after the grinding. flatten it out and freeze it. they seem to love it, and it...
