Oh,
Thanks for clearing that up for me. Cool site, I'm sure this will help figure out what light is the best.
I'm sorry i forgot to say this is for my new 55g ;D I liked the idea of duel 250's so if i upgrade i don't really have to worry about lighting. Plus all the choices for bulbs,
BTW...
Thanks,
I forgot about a few fans :)
I found a duel 250w retro for 150 bucks, I think it was. I guess i gotta wait to buy a retro before i start building a hood. So i know the reflectors fit...
Well I've been looking for a pair of MH. I found a few used ones on eBay but before i go off and buy anything i wanna make sure i have my facts straight.
What do you need to run MH?
Ballasts, Reflector, Socket, Wiring, Bulb. Is that it?
Is double ended bulbs better?
Is Electronic Ballast's...
cool, That's why i thought about 250's because then i don't have to worry about lights if i upgrade again. Well i guess I'll be looking around for 250w lights my plan is to make a hood and put two fans in the back and one blowing in and out on each side.
Thanks Merv
Not a probblem. I just thought that was kind of alot since 1 teaspoon helped alot that why would i put 30 teaspoons in... Well i'll add 1.5 teaspoons to a gallon of top off water.
Ok. even with a hood and fans? My uncle said he ran duel 250w over it So when he upgraded to a 90g the lights would still be ok. So just go with two 175w and use my 65w's?
Would this be enough to keep sps and such? I just picked up a 55g from my uncle (for free) and i'm wondering if i should go with 175w or 250w
the price isn't much more and if i ever upgrade to a 90g or 120 i could still use them. What do you guys think or have over your 55g?
Thank You,
Nick
Well i found some in straight pin.

I've got one more question my bulbs are 21" these are 22" there is plenty of room as it's 30" wide but does it matter how long the bulbs are?
So I've got a 6700k/10000k bulb...
Ohh i guess thats true... So what about a 420/460 and a 6700k/10000k wait do they make them? hmmm
Thanks, I think i'm going to try what you have IrradiatedReef.
Please vote on what you think. I'm thinking about the 10,000k/actinic
but i wanted to get your guys opinion. Remember this is all i run for lighting.
Thanks,
Nick
