After some googling, I think you are right. It did look like it had a shell and they seem to be grazing. The only thing I am unsure about is the white curly eggs. An article I found says they release them into the water, not onto things.
I have two of these guys that I have seen now. They just started showing themselves recently. They are laying small white curly eggs all over that place. They are whitish blue. They seem to be grazing on the live rock and I haven't seen them on any corals yet. Should I try and hunt them down or...
I agree with everyone else. The humidity in the air now especially with a week of straight rain will affect you evaporation rate. I noticed it on my system as well.
I decided to do this because I was not happy with the other DIY media reactors I was seeing on the internet. (especially the Gatorade bottle one ::)) I hope this helps someone out. Judging by the deltec reactor sizes, I think it should be ideal for at least 100+ gallons (probably 3-400 Max) and...

I made a nice media reactor for cheap. I didn't pay for the materials yet so I can't give a cost total. (I am guessing around $30-40 max) It was all made with stuff we sell here at work.
The black pieces will get holes drilled in them to diffuse the water. The top threads right onto the nipple...
They are so neat. I think I am going to order one soon. Did you buy that one from the store in ct as well? I can't tell, but do they both have their tube intact?
added my info, I think it would be good to add what type of salt used, how long the tank has been established, and maybe a water chem. column. (like what level they keep their calcium at, etc..
;D
Seriously I don't think it would be too hard to do. I have a controller that I could have enable the pump when the temp goes up and disable when it drops. Just run some vinyl tubing and coil 50 or so feet into the fridge.
I have been keeping my tank at 80 through the winter. On Sunday and Monday the temp has shot up to 83 and my controller kicked off my lights. My coral didn't seem to care about the temp rise. I guess this is because it is only fluctuating a few degrees. I have no a/c where I am and I will only...
I had really good results with paragaurd. Also be careful where you buy the paragaurd at. It cost $8 at THR versus $20 in other stores I went to. I dosed 10ml/gallon per day per the instructions. After a week the fish were mostly cured and not showing signs of stress. I lost zero fish...
