i know what you are saying! i removed a few gorilla crabs and a few mantis shrimp. still have a couple gorilla crabs in the DT, as well as a couple pistol shrimp. none of them really seem to be bothering anything, so i am not going to rip my tank apart trying to catch them.
thats pretty much what i thought too, just wanted some reassurance. i mean, they have been in there since Feb and havent really caused a problem yet. maybe a snail/hermit or two, no big deal.
these things seem to move around the tank a lot more than the mantis shrimp did. i set a trap every night for the mantis and finally removed three of them, but never had a pistol shrimp go near the trap.
what i really want to know is what risk do they pose? is it worth all the trouble of...
i have successfully removed three mantis shrimp. i have visually confirmed two pistol shrimp. my small fish include a purple psuedo and a scooter blenny. i have seen the pistol shrimp snap at the psuedo, but the psuedo didnt seem to concerned with him. it actually seemed like the psuedo was...
i have a purple psuedo and he is a motel citizen.
i have a purple tang, yellow tang, & kole tang in my 180g. they co-exist peacefully with the exception of the occasionally flare up by the purple tang (biggest fish in the tank). i have had a kole tang in my previous tanks, and he wasnt really...
i agree 100%. i have a purple (my king of the tank), a yellow, and kole. the kole is the most active. it fun to watch them take turns pecking the algae sheets.
thats what i thought.
tahnks everyone for the advice. i would like to go with a more blue color to my tank, i am thinking maybe 14k's. is there any risk of changing kelvin rating (effect on corals)? i would change one bulb at a time, then after a month or so change the next one.
I will be replacing my MH bulbs for the first time in a few months, so just wondering what the perferred K rating for MH's these days. I have 3 250w 10K's now supplemented with 8 39w T5 Atinics, but I still think the tank could be 'blue-er' when the MH's are on. what do you guys suggest. Kelvin...
my fug has lots of snails and hermits like dave stated. i will post pics later. i never really clean the DSB in the fug, never see any reason to. let it go all natural. i also have 2 inches of live sand in my DT, but it actually a mixture of crushed coral and sand, i really wish it was straight...
