John, There may be many causes for your low pH. If you wouldn't mind answering some questions to give you the best advice possible.
What is your current alkalinity, calcium, and (if you have it) magnesium levels?
How are you measuring pH?
Have you had any recent die-off or a fish go missing...
Seachem Reef comes in at around 540 CA 10 Alk 1450 Mg at 35 @ SG 1.264 per here My own testing of Ca and Alk jive with it too.
I've only been using it for two weeks now, but I have noticed a jump in coralline growth. Adventure Aquarium uses it for their reef tanks as well btw.
Also, I...
Oh and protip for when you start applying for jobs on the site:
Just because you don't think you're qualified for a job, doesn't mean that you shouldn't apply for it. Esp. with that black belt of yours.
John,
Have you posted your resume on http://www.usajobs.gov/ yet? If not, I highly recommend giving it a go.
Hoping to make the meeting and please ignore any wet pockets. ;D
finksmart, the Viper K2 takes a 70W bulb iirc.
I'm 99.9% sure that all aquarium DE MH are HQI. They may run on either magnetic or electronic ballasts with electronic being the better option for efficiency and bulb life. All DE bulbs have to have a UV filter, typically glass, because they lack...
Magnesium does get depleted by our livestock, averaging out to 37ppm of Mg being used up for every 4ppm of Ca. In particular for coralline growth. Scientists are also starting to look at the effect of magnesium and cellular density in coral skeletons, though it's still early in it's research...
I was just thinking about that thread.
I still think that if you're going to use a ground probe to only use one when you are about to get wet. Murphy's law would say that your gfci will trip just when you leave for work...
I haven't seen any groundprobes at the aquarium in the back. Which...
hmmm... so about how much of the Wellness Core or Raw diet would I need to feed my 75# and growing GSD? Right now he's getting a 32oz cup of purina one 2x daily.
imo it is an expensive calcium additive with an iodine kicker. The two main ingredients in Purple up is water and Aragonite powder. Aragonite adds nothing to the tank until the tanks pH goes below 7.
Coralline scraping (to include on the rock) goes along way in it's spreading
