If you were to go that route I would consider swapping the fuge and return locations.
If not don't forget to plumb some of the return line back into the fuge.
Are those Koralias are the ones designed for use with wavemakers? They have two types one runs on 12V DC for wavemaking the other is ac for continuous use. Make sure you buy the right one.
For the sand bed I would say no. A good clean-up crew combined with a mature/maturing tank should take care of it. Possibly stirring occasionally as Jonathan mentioned.
