I have never keep corals before. I recieved my final shipment of Live Rock yesterday from Tampa Bay Saltwater. Included in the shipment were a few corals. Should I glue these to the LR using Cyanoacrylate glue?
sorry about the crappy pics, my wife took our good digital camera to work with...
how did you end up catching your mantis shrimp?
i cannot figure out why i am getting such bad green hair algae. nitrates, amonia, & phosphate are testing 0. Ph is 8.2
my RODI water is testing 0 for phosphates
i cut back on my lighting. only running my MH's for about 3 hrs a day now, and T5's...
i have caught two mantis' so far. the first one i caught by taking the rock out and giving him a dose of RODI. the second i caught with the X-Terminator trap. it took about 10 days of setting the trap each night for him to finally go see what was going on. i did not take pics sorry. the 2nd...
i had a Kole in my 55g and he was no problem at all. friendly with other fish and keep the tank algae free. i am currently going through the algae stage of the cyclin process of my 180g, was thinking of adding a kole tang in a few weeks when the tank is stable, but there are a few other tangs...
thanks guys. it is mexican calupera (spelling?) in my DT that came on the LR. I have some bubble macro algae in my fuge.
as far as animals go, i dont have any fish or corals yet. just LR and the hitch hickers that came with it (some snails & a few crabs).
so i should get rid of the bubble...
my tank was going pretty well- amonia & nitrate both reading 0 for a whiel now. but all of sudden a lot of the Mexican Calupera on the LR is dying and green hair algae is starting to grow! i dont have a Phosphate test kit, I guess I better get one. But I am only using RODI water and I am running...
i went with 1lb of live sand per gallon in my 180g. it is about 2-3 inches all around. then i used 2lbs per gallon in the 55g refugium. about 5 inches all around.
Hahaha! yeah i just kind of realized that if someone has not seen 'A Clockwork Orange' that they may think the picture in the avatar was me. Nope, that picture was the character Alex from Stanley Kubrick's 1971 movie A Clockwork Orange. The new avatar is my boxer Lucky (taken seven years ago).
no i have to let richard know when to ship part 2, going to wait till the cycle is complete. and till i catch this mantis shrimp! i havent seen any red serp stars, but i have seen 2-3 small Fancy Tiger-striped stars.
Thanks Brian!
Just doing a ton of water changes right now trying to keep the amonia below 0.25 to avoid as much die off as possible on the LR.
I am doing about 45 gallons twice a day, which is not really a big deal except for the amount of salt I am going through.
Thanks Phyl!
I forgot to add a pic of the 55g Refugium
110lbs of Live Sand, some Caulerpa, and about 60lbs of LR (will be transferring about 30 more lbs from the display to the fuge when i get my final 90lbs of LR from TBS)
Tank is still cycling, and I still have about 90lbs of LR to add, but here are the latest pics!
