Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Mike, I will most definitely keep you up on that offer. We're having way too many outages. Some are the extremely annoying ones that last for under 5 minutes. But others go on for hours, and like I said, I don't want to wait until something happens to my tank. Let's just hope I won't be calling...
I hope this is not something that has already been covered. :-[
Yesterday we had a power outage - again. My neighborhood is quite prone to those, and I freak out each and every time. The power went out at 1:20PM and they predicted it to be back by 7:30PM. Needless to day, I panicked. Luckily we...
Perhaps I missed it in your "to do list":
- change filter socks
- clean reflectors and bulbs
I don't use any calendar though - as long as I'm young and mobile I like to challenge my brain. ::) (joke)
Jim, I found this on Reef Central:
""What temperature is best? (uh oh)"
"Aquarium Corals" by Eric Borneman (page 349) cites reef temperatures as having a minimum average across all tested reefs of 70F, a maximum average across all tested reefs of 86F, and an average temperature across all...
Re: AGA 120 (very few pictures and lots of dull writing)
Phil, we didn't connect the overflows at all. Each of them individually goes straight into the sump (filter sock). Wouldn't you somehow restrict the flow if you were to connect them?
If you want to go the skimmer route, check out this one:

I personally know nothing about it though.
I've heard very good things about the Remora hang on skimmers...
One more for washing machine with a tad of bleach. I do turn them inside out. And when the cycle is done I wash them again - just with water and let them air dry. Been doing this ever since I started using them, which has been about 1 1/2 years and never had a problem.
Re: Here's my 120
Bax, so sorry about your losses, too. :( Perhaps I missed it somewhere, but what do you think went wrong in your QT?
About the dolphins: If they don't move out to sea soon, I'm pretty sure they are doomed, so it would be great if someone could help guide them out so that they...
Re: AGA 120 (very few pictures and lots of dull writing)
I'm SO excited for you, Phil. ;D I'll be along for the ride as well - no matter how long it takes. When you mentioned the plumbing part I immediately had indigestion. :-X
Didn't you mention pictures? (hint, hint, hint)
Mike, I don't know what to say. :'( Love him and hug him and be there for him. Put your nose in his coat and inhale his scent as often as you can. Try not to let him see you too upset (that's the hardest part) so that he may find some peace within. Let him know it's ok - and you will know when...
No, I'm not using IceCap Ballast. For my 180 I have the ready fit Retro Fixture from TekLights. The ballast is included and built in, but they're not by IceCap.
Thanks Mike. :) Which bulb combo? For the 75 or the 180?
For the 75 I ran these (front to back)
ATI Blue Plus
Giesemann Aqua Blue
GE 6,500

I've got oodles and oodles of pictures in Tale of the tank, and when you go to "Photography", there's a thread of my 1 year anniversary, which has tons of pics as well.
My Deresa and Maxima both started off in my old 75. I was using a TekLight, 6 X 54 Watts T5s for that one. Don't remember how...
Here are some pictures of mine:
