Looking to add some to my tank. Is anyone familiar with Mike in Parsippany, would he be an option or am I better off buying from Sealevel- these are about my only options time/ distance-wise for me
When researching fish make sure you look at adult colorization, I've learned this the hard way- just about every fish site shows the juvenile colors- you have to dig deeper- cases in point- midas blenny- the African loses it's yellow and turns musky, so does the 'yellow' dottyback, the tailspot...
I've watched a bunch of videos on youtube and tried the one with a 2 liter soda bottle and the pink damsel won't go in- too skittish- it spends most of it's time hiding- just darts out to harass the other fish or to grab a bite to eat- suggestions?
This guy belongs in a tank with some more aggressive fish than I have in my 40- had it for over 6 months. I'm going to try one of the DYI fish traps in the next few days- I can hold it in my 13g for a while
I get shocks occasionally when I touch my black box while maintaining the tank- I've tried using a meter grounded and get nothing- the culprits are either the heater, submersible led light or the return pump- I've ordered a new and heater- got to the point that I don't want to maintain the tank-...
I love the 75 gal @Salted has, and I like my 40b. But why don't they make a stock 90g that's 24" deep 48" x 24" x 18"- I love a deep tank- or do they? I can't afford one- but I am a dreamer :)
After seeing @Salted 90g I want one- I saw this on a facebook group today- I'm still waiting on a price for the Red Sea 425xl 90 setup- but here's the fish- let me know if any of these or the corals are worth thinking about- Angels/ captive bred lemon peell $ 80, Flame back $80 Coral beauty...
This sounds good in my head, but not sure what it would look like in real life. For a rimmed tank add a 4-6" black acrylic 'box' that fits into the inside of the rim where you'd normally put your cover- basically adding 4-6 or 8" to the top of your tank- no worries about heat or interfering with...
I never thought about this until I had to dose a tank. When you first set up a tank, take note of the actual amount of water you use- it's hard to figure it out later on subtracting for substrate, and rock- many treatments call for exact volume for the dosing amount
I just bought a used 30g cube and bought Dr Tims 1 and only,, Fritz ammonia, 20lbs of live sand, have a few pieces of dry rock and live rock- getting some more from Salted on Sunday. Should I jump start with the ammonia or wait until I have all the rock in the tank and then add the bacteria
So this is #4 ( 5, but the hex was a disaster )- I now have a 13g, 30L, 40B and now this ( and a 110 in a shed )- why 4 and not the 110- a discussion for another time- this is the 'old style' without the wifi- don't want it/ need it- the lights are white and are on all the time- you need to add...
Got a 'new' 28g cube from @brokereefer today and realized I don't have enough dry rock, and can only spare a few small pieces of live rock from my other tanks without upsetting things. I can travel as far as Sealevel or Bridgewater for pickup
I'm buying a 28 gal JBJ cube from @brokereefer which is a bit deep- I think the dimensions are 22"l x 22"h X 17w- The stock light isn't good for anything other than zoas I think- I plan on having some sps corals and am looking for a light that won't break the bank ( I plan on spending all my...
I'd prefer to buy locally, but these guys have some fish you just can't find locally- I've bought from them a couple times and will again- ship overnight- guarantee live delivery- they often upsize fish. Free delivery on orders of $139 and 10% off your your first order- I just got a yellow...
