Although it's dry, it still has a lot of organic matter and PO4 attached to it. So, I have found that its best to soak it overnight, allowing the organic matter to rehydrate, and hose/power wash it off the next day, then soak it in an vinegar/water solution with a PH, for a day or two depending...
This is the model 2227, and it's strictly a biological wet/dry filter. I rinsed this out, but couldn't run it unless I hooked it up. It was running when I took it out of service. The media baskets are full. Includes all the hoses, and instruction manual...
FWIW, Consumer Reports gave the Ninja Master Prep Professional QB1004, its highest rating, and best buy. Along with Vitamix 5200, it received the highest ratings. For $60.00, I think I'd have to try it. The Ninja Professional NJ600 came in just behind those two.
I have a Haddon's carpet, and feed pieces of scallop, shrimp and fish. He also gets an occasional Blue Star Leopard Wrasse, and Red Velvet Fairy Wrasse, etc. :rolleyes:

This is the model 2026, it's a three part filter with biological, mechanical and chemical filters. It was cleaned, and all filters replaced before I put it into storage. I think I have some extra filter material for it too...
