Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
John, I stole/used your manifold idea. What a great concept. I built mine with 8 ports. I saw how quickly you used yours up so I added a couple extra ones in there at the start and left room on the ends to add more if needed down the road.
I orignally just had my skimmer in the 55 sump. The...
PMolan, do you have lions and puffers in the same tank now? I've always wanted to do this but everything I've read say it's a No, No. I decided to go lion & triggers instead of puffers. Just something to think about if you haven't done it yet. I myself would love to talk to someone who has done...
Yea, it's a lot of rock and my hands are still pretty cut up from moving it around. Sad thing is I still want/need a couple hundred more pounds for the 120g trigger/lion tank.
Not including frags, I've got 40+ nice corals in the tank but it still looks bare to me since I was previously used to...
This is geared more toward people with larger systems but any input is welcome.
I'm just wondering how you guys and gals are handling your drains if you have a refugium inline. Do you for example dump all water into the refugium then to skimmer and then to sump or split half to refugium and the...
Re: CAyers' new tank
Just a little update on the tank/system. I had to redo a couple of pipes that had small leaks in them. Now everthing is holding water nice and tight.
I've got a bunch of corals and frags in the main tank now, but still no fish.
The contents of the new tank (sand & rock)...
How long has it been since you replaced those filters? Most of them don't last that long and then you find different sediments that were trapped by the filter getting by and making your TDS higher then without the unit.

Normally by the time I remember I need one it's to late to order it so I run to a LFS and pick one up. I've now got a spare or two on hand but I'll pick up a few during the next group buy.

At the time I used it I hadn't thought about grease coming out of it and harming the tank so I'm not sure.
For me it was the salt getting into the unit and even though I thought I washed it pretty good the next time I went to use it I found it not to work and just kept jamming up probably due...
mynd, no question that a tank can be run without a "computer on board". I sold my 3 Pro yesterday and I'm without computer now too. I will be replacing it however with a 3 (not pro).
The gfci adapter won't help in the case of heater issue as most people experience. The problem is that the...
I had one and used it before my tank cycled. It worked the first time I used it but the salt seems to have messed it up. Unless you want to clean it and re-grease it after using it I'd say it's not worth the trouble.
I didn't realize this until I went to use it again and it "sprung" on me and...
mynd, in ONE respect I'd say it can be more important on a smaller setup. If you use the Neptune (or other device) to control your heaters and a heater breaks in the on position your tank can overheat pretty quickly and kill off the contents of the tank. Having a 2nd "master" thermostat...
Talk about timing. I sold my 3 Pro this morning for exactly what I paid for it! So I'm off to buy another controller. I think I'm going to get the 3 this time and not the Pro. I thought I would use the extra features when I first puchased it but never really found a use for them.
The manuals...
