Blue Cali Tort Colony, Green Birdsnest colony

Weather permitting, I'll be going to the meeting tomorrow, so if there is something you're interested in, I can bring it with me, for you or someone you designate to pick up. The Blue Cali Tort is down to 6 branches, so I'll do $200, for that.

    January 2013 Meeting

Good idea, but we should do it locally, maybe Kevin knows of a good source. I know Tony's Baltimore Grill in AC makes a great pie, but I don't think they deliver. I'll chip in.

    Dry Rock

I bought the Pukani from BRS on three separate occations. After the first one, I realized that it needs some work before you can use it. Although its dry, there is still a lot of organic matter attached to it. I would remove as much of it as you can, while it's dry, and then place it in some tap...

    My 280g build....

Not until it was placed in the DT. While it was in the QT I just did WC's, using the water from my DT, when I did its WC's. Although I did weekly WC's, instead of my normal two week schedule during that time.

    Tri-color Valida - $5 frags

These fresh cut frags are about 1 to 1 1/4", need to be colored up, and need to be placed in part of the tank that will get a lot of light.

    My 280g build....

I've bought the Pukani on three separate occations. I realized right away that the rock would need to be etched, and cured before using it in an established system. So, after re-hydrating it and hosing it down to remove as much of the organic matter as possible, I soaked it in a tub of 50/50...

Oh no he didn't, oh yes he did 180 gal build

As far as the UV is concerned, you might consider the fact that you will have to clean it fairly often, and replace the lamp at about 6 month intervals. I believe that they can be/are useful in a quarantine/hospital tank, but if you are diligent in your tank husbandry in your DT, you most likely...

    Adding more rock

You'd be surprised how much volume is in 50#'s of Pukani. But, you will have to etch and cure it before you use it.

    Starting Bio-Pellets

The use of "red slime removers" will work, i.e. chemiclean, but if you don't resolve whatever caused it in the first place, it will simply keep reoccurring.

    my 10 gallon

A little hard to see, but the small snail might be a Collubelid snail (harmless), or maybe a stomatella, and the other is probably a vermetid snail (harmless).

    Starting Bio-Pellets

Since I started this thread, I've been running them that long. I did put my GFO back on line, after the pellets were colonized, after about 4 months. I'm using BRS HC GFO, and get about two months out of a recharge. You should have a Hanna meter for PO4. I do, once every few months, add a couple...
