Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Honestly, unless you have a giant halimeda bush or gigas clam you haven't mentioned, I can't imaging what would be depleting your calcium. Have you checked your test kit, can you borrow a different brand and try that?
If it was me I would contact the RK people and beg for mercy. They are a small operation trying to earn good consumer karma; I doubt they will send you packing.
I don't quite get this -- you trust airline check valves but not solenoids? Please explain what you're doing with the check valves.
BTW, I feel the same way as you about the solenoids. I don't want to accidentally add 50G of water to my system. I bought 2 solenoids and I'm putting one before...
Those are some good ideas.
1) There's bottoms and then there's bottoms. I don't think anyone thinks having a constant 68F is a good idea for indopacific stuff. (Although there would be lots of oxygen in the water!)
2) I think the tarp sort of proves that a wall wouldn't have quite the effect...
I am just loving my tank these days, I have rediscovered the nirvana phase, or at least satori.
I have a top secret theory and that is that staring into a well-lit reef tank counteracts Seasonal Affective Disorder even better than staring into those lights the doctors prescribe. More...
Sort of in between those two things. We mostly don't want the dog to face off with a bear.
The bear in the bottom shots is a different bear, he has a tag in each ear, a real veteran. One year we had some five or six different adults, some pretty scrawny. Some have black faces and some tan...
Now that I go my AWI parts, I'm ready to try it out.
Here's a side view showing the support rod and upper flange:
The 1/4" fittings installed in the plug:

Filled the tube with some sand and bent it...
I insulated my sump with 2" pink styrofoam from HD, surprisingly easy but only good for an additional 1 degree F so far. Maybe I need to add styro under the table the sump is on. Really should cover the sump. Added another 250W heater last week, one with a badly spliced cord, so watch out...
I am still getting mine dialed in, so knock wood! Right now I am at 40 bubbles/min, and a "fast drip," maybe 120-180 drops/min. That said, I came down the other day and the effluent valve had clogged, the reactor was half full of CO2, and the pH had jumped up from 8.0 to 8.3 (from kalk...
