There is nor pressure in the sump, so you can glue it with Acrylic glue- I use IPS #16, and any small leak doesn't matter. BTW I thought you were going to go the plywood route- should have taken the stand:)

Fish aren't eating the eggs, I figure they'll eat the small snails- would like to get some to survive though

The small round eggs all over my tank- Nerite eggs? I never see any actually hatch or see the snail population grow at all. Are they just food for something already in the tank, or are the hatched snails food- I'm thinking either the Melanurus or the Tomini

You could just remove the doors

The plywood/wood will be fine ( I didn't recommend it ) the original cabinet/stand would be better though- I have no use for it

Since you don't want to make the trip for the stand, check the width of both tanks, if the same a $10 tube of silicone and a razor blade you can transfer the in tank sump, and use your metal stand- easier than building a new stand with lumber

I still have the stand for the tank- worth the trip?- still have some plants left too, and a bucket of aragonite, and I'm interested in some of your coral frags- might help make the trip worthwhile

You don't add more f/2 when doubling?
