When I shut down the 30g I found snails for a month, and I had shut down the filters, pumps and heater. I'm finding Limpets in the 40 now along with all the pods. Not sure how they'll do in the 75 with the wrasse and Canary blenny though
I don't get why pods aren't recommended as part of the cuc/ getting a reef tank established- Amphipods are easy to see and eat uneaten food, but copepods work in the sand, in the rocks and spend part of their life free swimming making them food for every type of fish and a good part of the cuc...
I've bought several different kinds of pods for a while- Tisbe, apocyclops and Tiger and after putting them in the dt, never saw a sign of them again, so when I moved everything from my 40 but left the pumps running so I could get the remaining snails out I had an explosion of pods- not sure...
Many of the perennials are gone/ given to good homes. I just dug up a bunch of tall asters- aster Tartaricus, and have a bunch of Begonia grandis ( hardy ) and some small corydalis, the aster and begonia are late bloomers- aster needs sun, Begonia and Corydails full to part shade- Still have a...
That was my first thought. They are supposed to be fine in a 75g. It's not constant though, just off and on , I wonder if it's hormones lol, it's not full size or coloration ( a teen) I'd consider selling or trading it, but first I'd have to catch it, then I'd need to know I could get ( or trade...
I have a Melanurus and it's great, but a bit manic. It's in a 75g with plenty of rock with algae and pods. It will swim up and down in a corner of the tank for minutes on end, then go back to picking at the rocks. I had a yellow coris in my 40 ( got chased out by a nasty damsel ) it was very...
I'm not a fan of transitioning fresh/ brackish fish to salt- mollies are done all the time and do a good job on algae- some even look like flasher wrasses, and are a lot cheaper- I see the attraction for sharks- no slat water sharks that I can think of will survive in a smaller tank. I'm a...
I moved a piece of rock today not thinking that where I put it was where my wrasse sleeps, it tried to sleep where the jawfish den is twice and really messed it up- I finally just shut the lights off and will see what happens in the morning- there is plenty of deep sand in the tank
I'm an 'early to bed' guy so my lights are out about the same time I hit the sack, but occasionally I'm up and hit the tank with a flashlight- my emerald crab and peppermint shrimp I never see during the day- copepods/ amphipods and most of my snails are most active at night. I'm still hoping to...
If you end up getting the skimmer from @Salted , let me know- I still have the bucket of aragonite, and maybe I can get the coral- I got some new plants in as well
