My returns go to a barbed BH fitting in the overflow chamber, through ~22" piece of 3/4" PVC to an elbo with a siphon break, to a lock line ball socket / Y fitting, to 2 - 6" lengths of ball socket flex tube, and terminating in 2 nozzles.
Put the rock in a bucket with some tank water. I usually take a couple of 5 gal. buckets when I do a water change, fill them half full, and use it to rinse off the rock, and replace it when I'm finished cleaning the fuge.
There are no built in timers. There are two power cords and two switches. One cord and switch for the outside two tubes and one cord and switch for the inner four tubes.
I'm not sure I understand your second question, but, I do use timers, one for the outer two tubes, for dawn/dusk, and one...
The tang in the rear looks like a Desjardini Sailfin Tang. These fish can become aggressive, and will become very large...~16". Your Blue can get to 12", and Yellow to 9", so you might want to consider re-homing the Sailfin. All members of the family Acanthuridae ("thorn tail") have those spines...
Mine was about 8 - 9" and ate the best shrimp money can buy...Scarlet Cleaner, Blood, Coral Banded. I kept it well fed, but it really didn't matter. When I caught it, he had a large cleaner and blood inside of him, and looked like a boa constrictor that had just eaten a cow. :grief:
