I need a pump to go from one room in the basement to the closet sump.... the height is about 9 ft up; 20-30ft across the room then into the sump. here is the setup... I have 1/2" tubing going up and over into the closet i then convert to 1/4" tubing so that I can hook it up to the float valve...

i would point a powerhead toward the top of the tank. You should have a lot of turbulence at the top of the tank in order to promote O2 exchange..... That should break the scum at the top
