These are great light.
The currents had a bad rap in the past as they were a bit underpowered, but that's changed a lot in the past few years.
I had a setup like Mark's a few years back but I was on a 40b, so was using the 36" version of the same lights.
I had 2 at 70% or so each and the tank...
Yes, they’re really for gardening. :)
Were doing a bit of restructuring and, at the moment, we have a number of plants inside that aren’t close to natural light sources.
We need to buy a few lights for them. Lights which we can hang inside for now and eventually move out to a greenhouse and...
The more chaeto, the more filtering.
I'd always start, or trim back to baseball size as Chris mentioned, but I'd let it grow quite a bit until the light couldn't fully penetrate it.
Didn't want it to start dying on the bottom from lack of light and defeating its own purpose.
Sometimes I'd pull...
The reason I starterd this convo was to determine if there is a cost benefit between the two.
I started mixing the two during changeover.
Where I was normally 1/2c per gal of RS, using 2 1/2c for 5g, I began using 1 1/2c of RS and c of IO for the gradual switch.
First 5g batch was 1 1/2c RS and...
Did that with a tank a few years back. Roughed it up with a fork, put it in sump, and directed a light on it. I was replacing them every 2 weeks or so. Worked well.
Recently picked up a discount box of RC after years of using RSCP.
With the RSCP, I was at 1/2c of salt per gallon to get 1.025-26. A 5 gallon bucket took exactly (EDIT) 2 1/2 cups.
I seem to be using much more than that with the RC, more like 3/4-1c per gallon.
Anyone have a general ratio of RC...
Yeah, it looks like its coming down to that. Downsizing from 120 to 30 and trying to keep as much as I could was probably too much of a drain on the system.
I managed to get out the fish and invert overloads, so no losses there, all softies are good, but the hit was hard on the SPS.
Met him a few years back when I picked up an MP10 from him, and could have spent two hours chatting had the family not been waiting in the car.
Cordial, intelligent, well spoken and presented, and just overall a nice guy.
Sad to hear, and my thoughts to his family.
I’m crashing for the night a...
Turmoil with sand removal continues, even in smallish increments. Shifted inverts to pest tank while treating main As it’s impacting them.
I have a ton of ceramic media in place, and a bunch more cooking, to replace the sand bed for the transition.
Main concern I had on the second unit, which arrived OK, was flow, as water was just going over the top mostly.
I dropped the long tube inside the unit, ran it over the top of the screen, and down the far side.
Seems to work. I’m in major tank changes now so hard to tell how well yet.
Also, mine...
Sitting on NOK and NAKD. NOK will probably pick up, NAKD is a 50/50 at best atm, but its under $1 a share.
Picking up some more AMC today at the $7 dip then going to sit on it till post pandemic. They’re updating theaters with the influx and the stock is probably a good long hold. Theres also...
