I still have a good amount of it left
I can give you that small pack if you want it. As you can see by the date that batch I made is gonna last me more then a year. And I gave a ton away. But year when I'm done I'd be more then willing to set up a group for some more. Best stuff I ever used.
Didn't all the rock come from you existing tank? If that's the case you won't see a cycle. The water won't add any bacteria but the rock from there is all you would need.
I miss my mystrey. Added one and the six line promptly went after him. Only came out when the other was wrapped up for the night. Then one day it just vanished.
After 24hrs it's probably not doing anything anymore. Rinse it now and switch it out. Same for vinegar. After 24hrs it's probably out of cleaning power.
Agreed, or if you plan on being out long enough you could give it a bleach/water bath followed by a good rinse followed by a acid(vinegar or muriatic) bath followed once again by a good rinse then drying.
That's gonna take A
LOT and I mean A LOT of vinegar of you decide to runs through as the tank is running. I don't think you would be able to get the concentration high enough to do any kind of real cleaning. I would just drain and clean it all separate.
I will second both setups. I ran a 10gal with a aquaclear HOB filter for my son. 18"t5 quad from odyssea. I was able to grow anything anywhere. No skimmer on that one. Only water changes.
His next tank was a 20h with 10g sump. All the fixins in the sump. And a 24"x4 current T5. Again I grew...
Is that kit you purchased for the scrubber or did you diy that? Nice work there. I've been considering adding one to my sons 45cube but frankly I have no idea where to start.
I tried to find the thread but no luck. It was not Vinegar though. I think the added carbon source could be a issues with that. Im sitting here at work trying to finde something though.
I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere about possibly adding an acid to the water to help lower Alk. Possible Paul could chime in here.
Also adding calcium would also help to drive down Alk as well. Again maybe Paul could chime in.
But I would think freshly made saltwater would be...
The overflows being seperate have no bearing on the return flow being equal. To ensure that return flow is equal to both side just have the pump flow 1 line to a central point then "t" it off to each return. You will want a ball valve before the T and one more for each line out of the T.
There is. There is a guy, Jeff(custom king) on Manhattan Reef he does acrylic work but I think he may be out of the game so you would have to check it out.
Also there is a guy on eBay out of PA somewhere that will do custom. Not sure of the name but if you do a search on eBay for sumps it will...
When I had my under tank sump I had lots of problems getting the Alk to not precipitate when adding anywhere in there. Even though flow through the sump it pretty swift each drop would instantly turn. The fastest moving water however in is between the baffles. Faster yet when flowing over a...
