I also have a 13 gal nano with a firefish, a Springer damsel and a tailspot blenny- the firefish used to be visible all the time at first- now it hides in a cave with it's head poked out ( or not at all) comes out a couple of times a day to 'stretch' I wouldn't worry. Mine has also gotten picky...
I'm giving up on my 29 gal hex- too much of a pain. Would like a 29- 55 gal tank up to 48" x 18" base- no stand needed ( unless you have a larger tank wit stand )- I'm in Morris county and can pick up at your convenience- I'll probably buy a 29 gal from Petco if I can't find anything else. Will...
I've read that coral banded might be good for the tank without the hawk ( no shrimp are safe with it ). I am thinking about sexy shrimp for the 13 gal- read that i should have multiples- 3 or more
I have 2 bare bottom tanks- one with a falco hawk and a 13 gal (sand bottom) with 2 peppermint shrimp- would like to add a shrimp(s) that's/are visable to all 3 tanks- any recommendations
I can't remember why- I'm old lol but there's a good reason not to use black sand- I thought you were in Wallington, sorry- there's a number of members down your way- I got you mixed up with the original poster. I bought the 'Buddy' RO makes 50 gal/day- enough for normal water changes, but it...
If you plan on having a sand bottom- don't forget the live sand Amazon.com : Carib Sea ACS00905 Ocean Direct Natural Live Sand for Aquarium, 5-Pound : Pet Habitat Sand : Pet Supplies
Don't use tap water for your tank- you can buy RO water from the LFS on rt 46 or use distilled water
I'd get the 240 gph model- 420 is a bit too much for that size tank- yes to Dr Tim's- does he still include ammonia- you'll need some sort of ammonia to cycle- piece of shrimp ( yuk- and smelly ) or his ammonia in a bottle. Some will blast me for this, but for starting a tank, whatever salt is...
I'm old too- had a 110 gal 30 something years ago- jumped back in when recovering from covid- been a year. I didn't upgrade the filtration at all - no skimmer- water changes every 2 weeks though- added a small powerhead for more flow- the stock light is ok for zoas, xenia, kenya tree-( you'll be...
I have nothing against clowns- they just don't 'do it' for me- I like that they are hardy and breed in captivity- but from things that I've read they can be very nasty- more so than many damsels
Don't shoot me, but I'm not into clowns ( real or fish lol ) I considered Talbot's , Pink were a bit less and not much info about them so I figured I could be the guinea pig so to speak
I just added 2 pink damsels to one tank- not sure if they'll breed/ mate, but what great fish- very inexpensive- pictures of them don't do them justice- very active
Looks like the tank is sold- for a few minutes I thought about buying it- right up the block, so to speak, my wife would have killed me- I did have room though
