I'd like to find a bulkhead to use on a round barrel. So the flange would have to be concave instead of flat. The idea is that I'll run my RODI water into a plastic 55g drum, then about 1/4 from the top, have this bulkhead that runs overflow to a smaller holding tank which is where I'll mix my...
So much of what I've read on the web recently has been slanted towards having a seperate fuge from the sump so that the water in the fuge can flow slower. That said, it seems like most have a combined sump and fuge. Can anyone tell me what the pros/cons are? The sump I currently have is not big...
Last night on the way home from work, stopped by the LFS to pick up some salt (Tropic Marin). Didn't think much of it, but when I got home I noticed it had two dates on it. One date was 10-06. Guess that's when it was made. The other date was 3/30/09. Was that an expiration date? Hope I didn't...
So anyone else ever feel like giving up during the actual setup? Before it's fully up and running? That's kind of the way I feel now. :-\
Have had our 14g up and running reasonably well for awhile and decided that we'd get a 120 because the fish my son want need a bigger tank. Ok, so start...
Looking for a good 8 bulb 48" t5 setup. This will go inside my canopy but I'm thinking about going with a fixture instead of a retro kit because that would possibly give me the option of going topless if I choose to go that route someday.
Was looking at ATI and TEK. Anyone have any experience...
Tank is gone and a new setup is going in it's place. Stand with canopy $50 or open for an acan trade ;D
Rope around the handles was only to keep the doors from opening when moving it.
Is everyone here really using Koralias for their intank powerheads? Seems like there are really 3 choices out there - Koralia (less $, good quality, sticks out far), Vortech (most $, good quality, loud vibrations and can't swivel), or Tunze (admit I know nothing about other than they cost almost...
Some of you may have read this thread http://www.njreefers.org/joomla/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=16587.msg152527#msg152527
It's a used 120g that I picked up. Well it has a chip on the corner and I don't want to take a chance in my house with it leading to a full blown catastrophe...
:o :-[
Setting up my tank today. Everything was going great. Got the tank and stand into the truck, backed up to the front door. Worked my way of getting it onto a 2' runner carpet then dragged the carpet over to where the tank goes and got it into place.
So why so sad? Cause right before I...
Looking for either some guidance or wisdom here please.
I recently purchased a used 120g with stand and it came with a fugly canopy. I’m not sure which direction to take, open top or canopy and here are my thoughts.
Originally planned on using a canopy because I wanted either MH or T5 lights...
Still in the process of setting up my new 2 me 120g. I thought I had it all figured out and was going to use a MH retro kit. Here are my thoughts though and I'm trying to figure out if I'm thinking correctly or not.
If I run MH and the canopy is an AGA canopy, then I'll likely have the lights...
Today I picked up a used 120g. Man there is so much crap caked on the glass and overflows. What's the best way to clean? Die grinder and a scotchbrite or would that scratch it (it's glass)? Looks like it's been caked on for a year+.
With the group buy through Air Water Ice underway, I'm trying to determine the best RO/DI system that would meet my needs. I'm upgrading my tank from a 14g to a 150g, so my needs are increasing as well. ;D
The two systems I'm considering are the Extreme Typhoon3 and theTyphoon5.
Up till now...
14g biocube with a picasso b, yellow blenny and orange firefish. Also has some coral ranging from acan to gsp to frogspawn. Parameters seem good with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 0 nitrate, 480 calcium, 8.2ph, 1.024Sg and 77 deg.
This would be the second clown that's died in the last 2 months (this...
Finally got a metal halide on my 14g biocube. We want a yellow clown goby and I've been told that they do better when you have a few acros in the tank. So I'm looking for my first or two acros. I'm trying to avoid anything that's going to require any dosing as I currently am not doing that and...
Phosphates were up to .25 (had never checked them till last night). Chris from OGII suggested phosban. For my 14g I put in 10g (cause I think that's about how much water it actually holds). So how quick should I notice a drop and how long do I leave it in? thx.
So we've had our picasso now for almost a month and everything has been fine. It's been eating, and swimming around. For the last week it's been hosting a small rock anenome that we've had for just over a week. I noticed last night that it was just swimming in a back corner where the flow is...
Found the source of my continued nitrate battle ... the water I was getting from the LFS. Oh well.
So I guess now is the time, even though we only have a small 14g nano, to get an RO/DI. I heard that our water company is going to Chloramine though so wasn't sure if that would impact any choices...
My tank is only a 14g so I'm not looking for a controller or anything. I just need a decent ph monitor. Are they all relatively the same or are there any I should avoid? I really struggle with the test kits and right now my ph reads around 7.9. I'm not 100% I'm doing a good enough job so am...
