A huge thanks to Sid, Cindy and Rachel for allowing us into their home. We had a great time today.
Sid, the tank looked great. Everything seems to be recovering really well.
It could be just from the stress. Unfortunately they can stay like that for a week or so until they bounce back. If the flesh is still firm then I'd leave it be for now. Try squirting it with your SeaSquirt, if it blows apart remove it, if it stays together then just leave it and keep an eye on it.
Was the oily film on your rocks and sand too or just the water's surface? If it was just on the water you should be fine to keep using the rock and sand. I would let the tank run for a while, running carbon and doing water changes just to be sure.
The rotten egg smell is usually sulfur that builds up in dead spots in the sand bed. Something either stirred up your sand and released it or it built up so much that it released on it's on.
I would remove all fish and corals and do a large water change. Running carbon won't be a bad idea either.
It's possible the hole is partially blocked and causing the water to spray more straight out than in a downward direction. Try running a pipe cleaner or Q-tip through the hole and see if that helps.

Happy Easter everyone. Hope your day was as enjoyable as mine was.

Steve, I am dying to get wet. I haven't been in the water since November 29, 2009, I think I'm starting to dry out. By June/July I am hoping to have about a 1/2 dozen dives in. Bainbridge is a limestone dive quarry, similar to Dutch but smaller,http://www.divebsc.com/. I'll be doing the first 2...
