Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Had to remove mine because it was too much mixed in with HA.
I drive daily NJ Turnpike from Goethals bridge to Ridgefield Park.
If you in a vicinity, please let me know.
I can either pay or trade for a frag.
Are you saying that snails died because of heavy GFO usage ? or just that snails did not consume GFO ?
I have a bag of GFO, so I'll try it (changing it more often).
Does activated carbon make any difference for HA ? Or would it cause other problems ?
I do turkey blaster thing sometimes. Should make it a rule.
I've attached the hard plastic pipe to end of the water siphon hose, and while I'm siphoning water out, I'm pinching HA between the pipe and my finger, and pulling it out. Otherwise most of it stays in place (if I just use water...
Some say test for phosfates, some - for nitrates.
I have one Derasa, 2 starfish (sand sifting, and green brittle ), they survive for over two years.
Yet when I add sea hares or sea urchins (to deal w HA), they die on the 1-2 day (while eating vigorously on first), as if they are being poisoned...

Sanibel is a nice, family-oriented place. If you need shelling advice, let me know. Sand there is not good for the fish tank (silica).
Try to find car rental in local mom&pop shops, much cheaper than 'brand' companies (AVIS, Hertz..).
If I recall correctly, some people tried to slow down the flow by having some regulator on water exit.
Not sure what else you can do with HOB.
Also, for HOB strongly recommend a way to maintain a syphon (like a airlifter pump).
Welcome to the club ! (I mean LHA club).
I've heard of using peroxide to battle LHA. Trying it. Not working.
Probly need to reduce the bioload. Can also reduce feedint, but that means that weaker/shyer fish will starve. Can reduce lighting, but that means problems with SPS and anemones. Can...
Sounds like good compromise. You still get to reef, but in a somewhat restrained way.
It's important to know when to stop, cut the losses, heed the signs and most important - have peace with DA BOSS.
