I have small 6 line wrasse and mandarine , both about 2" long, and they are OK. They've been in the tank for about 6 months.
Also small male clown (also about 2.5"). they are OK. But new additions (gobies and small blenny) have dissapeared.
I'll watch the star closely (and try not to buy small...
He's still alive, still chugging along slowly. I guess most of the work is done at night. But there is still lots to do.Yesterday tried to syphon out some HA cause it's getting old and bubbly.
Gobies vs Brisle sea star
After couple small gobies (and 1 lawnmower blenny) had dissapeared, I think they are too easy of a target for a large bristle sea star.
I like gobies, but my sea star is more fun than gobies and it was with me for years.
Have this been similar experience for any of...
Hare cleaned 'heavy' area about 1 sq foot, where I've placed him yesterday. Now he's on the sand under the rock, moves very slow (about 5 inches in couple hours).
Is he resting after the heavy lunch? I hope he's not pining for the fiords.
New guy (thanks Chris) started to eat right away. He's big, for reference pvc pipe in picture is 3/4".

Old hare is no more! He has ceased to be, expired and gone to meet its maker.
Can't tell what's wrong with it.
Either he's stunned, or pining for the fjords.
The good news, I got a new hare, thru loan-a-hare program (on Chain-gang forum), from Chris.
This one started to 'work' the very second I hand-placed him on a 'hary' rock.

Black dwarf sea hare with blue spots died for some reason. It was not a 'voracious eater' as others describe hares. I would say it was 'stupid' eater, looked like it could not find food. Probably was too stressed with the transition from his home to LFS to my tank, and probably was dying anyway...
Well,
my 'pretty' sea hare is gone (to meet it's maker, who did not make it up to specs). In the morning it was on rocks, apparently feeding, and in the evening it was on the sand , up-side-down (or down-side-up), cleaner shrmps playing with it. It did not show any signs of life/movement, so it...
I can't confirm with certainity. Today in the morning he was on rocks, there are some clean patches and patches with HA, but he's moving slow and I'm not sure if those clean patches were there. When he's on the glass, you can see (from the other side) what is he doing, but on the rocks, can't...
I guess he doesn't have much of a brain. He spent severa hours on the glass which I've just cleaned.
Then I picked him up with my hand and put on the 'hairy' rocks, and he started to eat.
I'm anxious to get back home and see if he actually could clean up any area.
1) Let new sand cycle. Put your new sand in a container with same saltwater as in your tank, add heater. Check parameters to see if cycle is over. Time ?
2) Move fish, coral, rock to temp container. Time 1 hr.
3) Put in new cycled sand. Time 1 hr.
4) put fish, coral , rock back. Time 1 hr.
This...
Here is a pic of the hare. I put him on rocks couple times, but find him on the wall. Did not observe him long enougph to tell if he does hair algae.
Any comments from current/past hare owners?
He's pretty - black with blue spots.
