Anyone has one? How does it work? What are the benefits of this system?
Toying with the idea of another FOWLR ;D tank and thinking if closed loop is a good idea.

OK - I already have a yellow tang, purple tang and a hippo tank (all over 5 inches, hippo is 6).
I have been thinking about a powder blue tang... I know, I know it is a bad idea to add a new tang now.
Is there anyone who thinks this may work ;D

So I got a few about 2 months ago and put them in my fuge. I have miracle mud in the fuge. As far as I can tell, they are doing just fine.
Currently they are in a styrofoam block (hole in the center) and they float with it.
Question is, when the roots are big enough and they can stand tall...
Ok - So I am thinking of adding a carbon and phosban reactor to my setup. I am looking to get two of "Two Little Fishies Phosban Reactor 550".
One for each. What is the maintenance on these? What kind of media are you all using? I will be using one pump (plumbed) to run both.

I replaced all my T5 bulbs on Feb 14th (what a day to pick :P ). I also added 4 extra bulbs. So I had 8 T5 39 watt bulbs now I have 12 T5 39 watt bulbs.
I was expecting that I will get some extra algae growth. Sure enough I have a lot of green coraline on my rocks and I am everyday cleaning my...
I thought that orange digi is one of the easier SPS to keep. Well I have acros, ORA , monti and all are doing well.
I recently got an orange digi and put it, I would say in the middle of my tank. It has decent flow.
This guy is the only one that seems to be bleaching .. One branch has turned...
I have noticed these hair like things growing on my rocks. If it was green I would have said that it is green hair algae. These are not green but white.
Is there something called white hair algae? Look at this image. These don't look like aptesia to me.
What are these?

I have noticed for last two days that every time I come back to the site I am asked to re-login. I always click stay always connect/logged-in but that is not working anymore.
I login, select stay always logged in and the close my browser. When I restart the browser, I am asked to login...
Ok so I changed all the bulbs in my light fixture and the tank has never looked better. All parameters are OK except that my nitrates are around 30PPM.
It is confusing since I have not changed the food schedule, or anything else except changing the bulbs.
I did a water change and nitrates...
SO my SPS have grown ;D to the point where I can not do a big water change without exposing some of them (blue milli and tri color acro). I always takeout some water from the sump and rest from the DT. However my nitrates are a little high and I was planning to do a 30% water change (45 gallon)...
Well I bought this cute little guy from Dr. Jim on Saturday. I already have orange percula in the tank. I was told/read that the percula's could be mixed.
I was wrong. The little guy was being chased all over the place. I took him out and put him in my sump where is is doing fine.
Dr. Jim...
I have three never used T5 bulbs in original packing.
One - Current USA 36 Inch 39W T5HO 420nm Actinic SlimPaq Bulb.
One - Current USA 36 Inch 39W T5HO 460nm Actinic SlimPaq Bulb.
One - AquaticLife 420/460NM Dual Actinic 36 Inch 39W T5HO Bulb.
Take all three for $50.
I am not sure what it is. I have had it for a few months now.
I have started to see these little growth(s) all around the perimeter and some in the center. Is this coral dying or are these normal growths??
Thanks
Sunny
Go figure. I am down with flu and have been watching my tank laying on the couch.
My yellow wrasse is constantly splashing water at the top of the tank and I was wondering why. After observing it carefully I figured, it was actually butting heads with its reflection in the glass. It is...
I have noticed lately that a few of my SPS corals slime a lot whenever I does calcium and/or alkalinty buffer (Bionic 2 part).
This is like a stringy white color slime. Is this a bad thing?
Thoughts?
I am planning to sell a large red/pinkish mushroom rock that I got from Trop two months ago.
The rock measures 8X8 inches. I am looking for $60. Open for trades.
I am planning to add 10lb sand to my 150 gallon tank that has been running for almost a year now.
Do you think it is safe to do so? I mean would 10lb (or less) new live sand cause issues with ammonia/cycle etc?
