Here is a link to some 36" wide Marineland tanks, but they have corner overflows.
30' deep is tough to work on for people like me with short arms!
Sounds like a fantastic setup in the making. With that size sump I would use a reactor of some sort for more active carbon filtration.
Keep us posted!
Whoa! I thought I saw this thread somewhere before!
There is something vaguely familiar about the tank description as well!
I think 75 is a great size to move up to from a nano. I think this is also the perfect first tank size. It's big enough to hold a variety of corals and allow for some...
Welcome back!
There is more stuff to chose from and a few new methods to try but the old stuff still works! I still use sand and VHO lighting.
There's some old guy around here that has a 35+ year old tank with undergravel filters.
The forum that Hurtback posted a link to will soon have an...
I've started to reread The Reef Aquarium Volume 1. Volume 2 may be next. I've never read volume 3 so I'll have to get that one someday.
I've also read Anthony Calfo's Book of Coral Propagation Volume 1.
It was nice meeting you both! Good luck with the angel.
Now that I know a nice nano couple I'll have to visit that forum once in a while and see how your tanks are doing! ;)
Well everyone now eats blackworms. Although the first fish to eat them has disappeared. :o I haven't seen the male filamented fairy wrasse for almost 2 weeks now. The female only comes out for feedings as well. I was hoping it was spawning behavior, but I think he has been MIA for too long now...
Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax
Ah a bittersweet day!
I know how I felt when I pillaged the 75 to populate my 180.
On to bigger and better things Bax!
BTW how are you feeling?
Hey Chuck, I hope you don't mind my moving your post, but I was planning on discussing this topic and you gave me the push to do it now. ;)
So we all probably spend too much time on websites reading every hobbyist's interpretation of what has been published on reefing. But who's reading actual...
I've used two systems in the past. B-Ionic and Randy's 2-part.
When I used B-Ionic I tested my CA and Alk daily. I started with the minimum recommended dose and increased it until my parameters were near my desired targets. I would test several more days until I had stable numbers at a set...
I would go with your build thread, but general discussions of ideas you are considering would be a good topics to post here.
Both you and James are experienced reefers, but I see a lot of newbies wandering the halls. Give them a nudge this way when you see them asking basic questions out in the...
I have the opposite problem. My wife has announced that we need a tank for some large angelfish. ;D
Now I have to figure out how to pay for that!
I'd really like to retire the softie tank if we do that, but it has my 11 year old clown, 10 year old LTA and a 5 year old toadstool that I want to...
I'll qualify my observations by stating that all of my experience is with LTA's.
This debate is somewhat like the old Miller Lite debate about tastes great or less filling! ;D
Both sides have great points.
Nem's can sustain themselves for long periods of time without being fed. But they...
An LTA wants to be in the sand.
They will move around for many reasons. Mine will stay put for 2-3 years and then just picks up and moves.
Make sure you feed it! ;)
Tell us more please!
How long has the tank been up?
Do you have live rock? How long did you cure it for? In the tank or in another place?
Are you adding anything to it?
What else have you done to the tank recently?
What are your other parameters?
Give this a read and see if you can answer...
NEVER! ;D
OK, so let's get serious. For me the answer depends on two factors; time and money.(OK, maybe 3 - my wife's patience)
My upgrade to a 180 was driven primarily by the desire to simplify my maintenance schedule. I had five or six tanks going which means 5 or 6 water change schedules; 5...
