Is it OK to put eggcrate under the rockwork to prevent rocks from scratching/breaking the bottom? After the rockwork in place I would cover eggcrate with live sand. Will it become a detrius trap or a haven for anaerobic microbs?

Thanks for your responces. I will remove the rock with Bryopsis tree. Though I liked it. And it had tons of little critters (little shrimps) living in it, and hermits often were insdie of it. Still I think of bying some alge eating fish,snails, mangroves maybe, to take care of other green stuff...

Also on 3rd picture some kind of coral. Which one is this? Body is pink, but tips look like they peeling off. Any hope for recovery? What can I do to help? Thanks.
