Before you add anything or take anything remember if its growing in there it's not in your DT. I once had a good amount of cyano in my fuge, none in the DT. Check McMaster Carr. If not I would go online. You could always go glass, 1/4" would work fine for that. I recently did a 15x15x12.

My tank has tons. Especially the sump. My DT is a little light. I think the shrimp and wrasses pick the small ones off frequently.

If that nitrifying bacteria has nothing to process it will die off. Now it might not die off all the way but there might not be enough to process waste from a fish.
