Are Pajama Cardinals known picky eaters? I've had a pair for about a month and a half and the only thing they eat are shrimp. I've tried flakes, pellets, frozen mixed, frozen black worms and nothing. However, mysis, either frozen or freeze dried, they eat. Tonight I tried shimp...
I spent the day outdoors today cleaning up the backyard. I came in 30 minutes ago, never thinking about the heat, and I found the tank at 83.3 degrees. Immediately turned on the air, but that thermal mass will easily take overnight to get back down to temperature. Need to pay closer...
I've just finished the chronicle on the issues I had with my two Apollo LED's HERE. Also, as I reported in my Tale a couple days ago, the TauTronics LED fixture I was using to replace an Apollo fixture while it was being fixed, well that crapped out on me....the blues only. They barely...
I wanted to reply to a post I saw on The Reefer's Lounge and to do so I had to sign up.....and be approved. I was supposed to first post as a guest in POST HERE, but there was no way to do this. The last POST HERE was from 2013. So I submitted my info anyway, about three weeks ago, and...
I've recently mentioned the Apollo LED issue I have and also putting two T5's back into my lighting system. While I wait for the slow boat from China for my new LED beads for the Apollo repair, the fixture taking it's place is an old TaoTronics LED. So I'm now back to two fixed current 55...
Anyone want a big tank.....my wife just showed this to me.
Large fish tank for sale in estate sale in Sayreville (Parlin section). Have no info on it, but it must go this weekend if anyone is interested. HERE's the sale info.
Massive fish tank (can easily be removed from behind...
Boy, do I have my panties in a bunch!!!
I've been wondering why my corals haven't had that pop they use to have. Well I think I now know why.
The future son-in-law was closely examining the Apollo LED's I have over my 90 (because he believes he can build them for...
I'm a ReefKeeper II fanatic....I have four of them. They are no longer being made/sold but I like the simplicity of the ReefKeeper II.....no smart phone connectivity. You can be an idiot and still be able to program them....unlike Apex (and others) where you need to know some fancy-pants...
Popped open the canopy this morning (before lights) and saw these guys hanging out on the flare of the Loc-Line. I'm guessing baby stomatella? Anyone else care to venture what they are?
I've been running my RO booster pump all wrong from the time I set it up. I run my booster though all filters. If any of you visit R2R, you are most likely aware of AZDesertRat, who is an expert on RO/DI systems. He posted the correct way to hook up the booster pump. I'm reconnecting...
Making RO/DI water today. What takes me 100 minutes in warmer months is now taking me 150 minutes (per five gallon jug.) I measured the temperature of the incoming water and it's 45 F. With this cold spell, it's only going to get worse.
Today, in the kitchen or living room, and certainly in the fish room, I could hear my heater controller (ReefKeeper II) playing ping pong. Looking at the temperature on the display, it would go from 77.8 to 78.5 to something lower, to something higher, repeatedly. It sounded like a ping...
Or is it the same thing with a black controller?
QuietDrive Vortech pump to be formally announced next week
I'm going to have to see it to believe it. It looks too much like what is out there now. They really needed to change the appearance, in my opinion.
I'm not liking that they change Maxi-Jets!!!! I needed to order up two replacement Maxi-Jet 1200's and saw that they have changed these pumps. I don't like what I'm reading as far as the reviews. This is deja vu Koralia all over again. Am I being paranoid about ordering these new...
We all know about Mag cleaners for glass, and soaking powerheads and pumps in vinegar, but what other things do you do that help in cleaning/maintaining your tank stuff that is not typical. I'll start with two simple things I use.
The top thing is a garden support stick made of metal...
I've had MP40's for a couple years. I clean the wet sides whenever I find the time....maybe every three months.....I know, not frequently enough. Never really paid attention to how I put the cleaned wet-side back in the tank.....just threw it in there. Well, I cleaned the wet sides...
I don't get it. I haven't added anything to my tank in at least a year, if not longer. I'm cleaning the sump...pulled the skimmer, return pump and biopellet reactor out and sucked all the water and schmutz out of these two portions of the sump. Low and behold I find a hermit in the skimmer...
