Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
The coral snow won't make the cyano worse. How old is your tank? was there any establish or live rock/sand added? What are your nitrate + phosphate levels currently?
It's totally different. Vodka will fuel bacteria in your reef. Great if your tank is stable + mature with no cyano, with elevated nutrients to fuel the bacterial growth. If you have cyano present, vodka will likely make it worse. If your tank is already low nutrient vodka will make things worse...
Yea prices got crazy on the tyree pieces. I tried one from thirsty back in May but lost it by July. It never settled in. I may try again if I can work something out with him for a larger frag. I think some of these recent wild ones will be damn close when they settle in and grow in tank...
Purchased last winter for a system that I never setup. I ran it to test out bulb combos but never ran it over a reef. It’s been sitting in the box since.
Price is $300 firm
Welcome to pickup in manahawkin 08050, but I travel north on the garden state often to meet if better.
I don’t notice much noise from it. I did cut a longer pipe on the inside of the secondary drain of the external overflow to raise the water level in the tank a little. I think that made it more quiet.
IME/IMO Buy a brand new dosing head, kamoer is a good option, and dose all for reef. That’s the easiest way. If you get into a load of hard corals you could spend the money and stay with all for reef but gets very expensive, switch to a balling method which is basically 3 part and requires 3...
make sure you verify your salinity. I don’t trust calibrated refractometers anymore after having one read wrong even though I routinely calibrate it. That glass hydrometer from tropic Marin is the best to use as a cross reference. I was cursing out Red Sea salt over the winter because of low mg...
It really depends if you went with a proper/oversized UV. If so you will notice clearer water, less green film algae growth, and less or no fish parasites. If it’s undersized it’s a waste of money and effort. You won’t see any benefits.
That’s what I thought lol. Something with pvc gate valves that no one seems to have. I have one on order from bulk reef supply coming next week, but I freed up today and tomorrow and was trying to get a plumbing job done. Oh well. Maybe I’ll use a ball valve for now and swap out later.
