i have a couple of euroreef skimmers, i think they are similar. if your gate valve is all the way open, the next thing i would try is raising the skimmer a bit higher. then i would try decreasing the amount of air you allow in, using a cheapie plastic needle valve used on air pumps.

i say to forget about chasing your tail. do a massive partial water change.

get rid of the squid. then place a ball valve to regulate the two outputs. for awesome flow (diffused) get yourself two penductors or eductors for the output.

That stinks, Ed. This type of thing happens to me so often due to interuptions. Actually, that's how i do my best water changes. All over the floor by mistake.
