+1 Personally I would suspend Kalk until you bring the Alk/cal/mag to where you want it. Then start the kalk again to keep it there. I target a mag of 1350 and have no difficulty keeping my Alk and cal in line.

I've read and it is also my experience that shrimp will moltvery soon after placing in a new tank. that may be the reason for hiding.

I tend to leave all sponges alone. I have black sponges in my tank too. Not the most sightly things but I've never noticed any harm from them

Try and blow it off. If it come off easily then maybe cyano. If not then I would think sponge also.
