The only movement should be the very top. It's should I live a very slight rippling. Any faster and it's grinding down. You can use less but there is really no need to. Also long as there is movement you going good.

You'd be better off with the Chinese black boxes.

Pete, turn the pump on the highest setting, and move the wet side slowly till you find the most quiet spot. Then it's set. From there you may/will hear them ramp up in speed. You will get used to it over time and it will quiet down over time. Enjoy them.

Also what is your pressure going into the system. If the pressure is low then the rejection rate is even greater and the membrane cannot properly do its job.

The top will be capped. The second will actually be a bit easier to fit but I'm redoing everything under the tank anyway.

The pump is at the bottom of the manifold in the first one. Same in the first for that matter.
