i've met bill once, and have read many of his posts, and have seen the photos of his tanks, he and many of the other veterans on this site are a "book" as far as i'm concerned. even more so cause they're not reading other people's research to base their opinions on, they have done this research...
i've been a member for about a year now... if it could be of service to anyone that i work for a plumbing supply company doing hvac / inside sales. and have enough plumbing knowledge to accomplish anything tank related weather small scale, or large scale.... just don't ask me about anything...
what i would do is remove the rock, fill the tank with ro and mix the salt, once done, syphon out about 20 gallons of water, prob will be a little more than the voulume of 88 lbs of rock, depending on the type of rock. then add rock, and put some of the syphoned out, premixed water back in to...
oops, you really should consider mixing salt in the water before you put in in the tank.... plus fresh unsalinated ro water will kill the live things on the rock

hey phil.. i read in jrwohlers tank thread that you lamented having 2 overflow boxes in your tank. well i just aquired an aga 125 6' model that has the 2 overflows, if you had it to do over again, would you maybe remove one of them? or do...

and by the way i really like the way to framed out that stand the way you did... it will make "wrapping" it very easy and give you a great look...and easy to customize cause there's lotsa wood to work with
