Have you considered dosing kalk instead of the two-part? IME it is easier to dial in and params stay more stable.

I've never carbon dosed but was under the impression you DKH should be around 7 with biopellets, vodka, etc. Maybe someone more sciencey could back that up? EDIT: Just read your alk is at 7.4

That's a crapload of snails! I think I have maybe 8 in my tank. Turbos, cerith and nessarius. Do you have a lot of die off with so many? I would like more but I'm afraid they wouldn't have enough to eat.

I think the mag5 might be overkill. A mag3 with 4' head loss will still give you more then 10x turnover.
