55 Tank with Metal Stand and 20 Tall with 20 Long Stand

I need to get rid of these tanks so I epoxied the lower frame on the 55, adding a piece of 3/8 acrylic. No excuses....come and get it! (Didn't realize the reflection of the crap in my driveway until I posted this. )

55 Tank with Metal Stand and 20 Tall with 20 Long Stand

A little enticement for the 20 Tall. I have a little flooring left over so I cut side shelves to hold your favorite adult beverage. You have the option of one shelf on one side: Or tank centered, with a shelf on either side. In addition, you can flip these boards over to give you a...

55 Tank with Metal Stand and 20 Tall with 20 Long Stand

Passing on the love after picking up the 12G from @amado . First up is a 55 gallon with painted sides, back and bottom. It can be easily scrapped off. Note the bottom brace is cracked, but doesn't effect tank integrity. If it were me, I'd slap some epoxy or silicone on it. See picture...

    A better fish trap needed

Here's the trick about bottle traps.....you cut a small hole in the side to fit the end of a turkey baster. Put the trap in your tank....actually leave the trap in your tank so the fish become use to it. Now fill the turkey baster with some delicious food.....I use mysis. Put the turkey baster...

return pump question with sump setup

Yep! If you scratch your head and think about it for awhile, it makes sense. The water seal occurs with the flange and gasket flat against the glass. With the flange on the outside, yes, water will creep up the threads, but now stop by the gasket being there. As far as the water seal, a...

return pump question with sump setup

I never thought my tank was atypical! :oo: And here's my atypical sump with a bulkhead for an external pump. I must be special: Although they are now out of business, anyone with a GlassHoles overflow has flanges outside their tank. My interest in making my statement about gasket...

return pump question with sump setup

Depends on application.... With this application, flanges (and gaskets) are on the outside.

return pump question with sump setup

Respectfully, this is not correct. Regardless of how the bulkhead is installed, the gasket ALWAYS goes on the flange side.

    Par Meter??

A direct answer to your question is that ACC rents their PAR meter….note I haven’t verified this recently, but they certainly did a year ago or so. Now I’m going to save you some money….costing less than what you’d pay to rent a meter….and it will be yours to keep. Buy a LUX meter. You can...

    Best Kalkwasser??

There is no "best.". Kalkwasser, aka limewater, aka pickling lime are all the same, and are calcium hydroxide. Calcium Hydroxide is Calcium Hydroxide. I've used both Kent and Mrs. Wages and prefer Mrs. Wages because its less expensive and I can buy locally at the grocery store/Wal-Mart.

    advice on Setup 90 Gallons

I wouldn't trust any advise that person gives you. The life cycle of "ich" includes a free swimming theronts which would end up circulating through you're entire system. We had a member on here who had a very large system that came down with ich. He removed all his fish and quarantined...

    advice on Setup 90 Gallons

Yes, you're overflow with headloss should be able to easily handle 900gph pump. I first started with a MAG 9.5 (950gph) and it was just fine. As far as back flow after the pumps are off, I actually calculated that because I wanted the tallest....maximum volume in my sump. When folks see my...

    advice on Setup 90 Gallons

Couple comments: 1. I don’t know what this means, “how would you guys do that rubber gasket with pvc compression?” If you’re talking about a bulkhead, regardless of the direction of installation…...flange inside the tank/flange outside the tank…..the gasket ALWAYS goes on the flange side 2...

    randy's 2 part q

The simple answer, NO. If you're talking about magnesium, you add when needed. I can't tell you the last time I added magnesium. My water changes maintain magnesium. And to think I purchased a 50 pound bag of MAG flakes about 15 years ago! I gave more away than I ever used. I think you...

    What’s up with GFO

It's with everything!!!! Go buy wood for home projects or PVC pipe. Those prices have about tripled. I've stopped building stuff and put projects on hold. And forget about chlorine for your pool. If you don't have a hold-over supply from last year, it can't be found. It's worse than...

    Skimmer Help

I've got one more.....is it the original pump? I think a RO 5500 or 5500s maybe??? Or has it been changed to something else....or possibly the newer DC VarioS-6?

    Skimmer Help

I would look at two things: 1. Unlikely, but worth a look: Is the gate valve actually opening and closing? Do you see the internal valve parts go up and down as you turn the handle? Also take it apart to assure nothing (like a snail) is stuck inside. 2. Most likely: The venturi is...
