    Skimmer Help

You don't mention what model you have, but regardless, I am bothered by this comment, "air intakes are mostly blocked," not knowing exactly what you mean. Any skimmer I've ever had, whether a becketted skimmer or cone skimmer, I've always set the air intake wide open, and adjusted the water...

Will this work for AWC with the Dos

Certainly no problem with water leaving the tank....assuming this water is going down the drain. Now, without knowing specifics on the vinyl tube, such as, is it rated as food grade or food safe, I'd be a bit leery using it. Realize vinyls could contain phthalates and/or BPA. Are these a...

    Pygmy angel trio

With great caution!!!! If they are males, World War 3, to the death. I don't think your tank is large enough to allow hiding until they have the chance to flip to female.

5 gallon and 2 gallon gasoline cans

Sunny, I'm interest in a 5 gallon can, if for any reason, to spend five minutes to chat. It's been too long.

    RO/DI question

@iTcJu has it.....both chlorine and/or chloramine are not detected by TDS. Just make sure you have a carbon block specific to chloramine.

Anybody want to come here and trim sponge?

Paul, I'm very much surprised you're not putting some marinara sauce on those sponges and eating them! :oo:

    I/O Salt Buy

RC has higher alk and calc....and vitamins, not to mention that it leaves that brown/gray deposit in your mixing bucket. No idea what "vitamins" do for your tank. And if you shop at Sea Level Aquarium, there's only a ten dollar difference between the 200 gallon boxes of IO versus RC....$35...

    I/O Salt Buy

I don't know if they are still doing it, but Sea Level sold 200g boxes for $35....normal price.

Looking for a stainless steel gas oven

Check out craigslist. The way people redo kitchens, there's always a pretty good selection of kitchen equipment.

    Low phosphate fish food

Know your fish monger! Naturally occurring phosphates within the various fish/mollusks is not the issue. Dr. Randy wrote up a nice little paper about this HERE. Where there is an issue is the store applying sodium tripolyphosphate to preserve the raw fish/mollusk and make them appear shiny...

    325 tank move!

Straps are good up to 800 pounds....and you're only dead lifting using your shoulders.....easy peasy (for @Paulie 069 ) With a little training, the average Joe can deadlift 335 pounds....and that's using your hands. Here it's all shoulders with a little leg action.

    325 tank move!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tank move that used lifting straps. I’ve used forearm straps to move a refrigerator and shoulder straps (shoulder dolly straps) to move very heavy stuff. With the straps over your shoulders, and a very wide strap going under whatever you're lifting, you use...

    Phosphates and Nitrates

What nitrate kit are you using and how old? I'd have an LFS or a reefer friend test your nitrates with their kit. I can't see how you could have phosphates that high with zero nitrates. They are kissing-cousins and go hand in hand with nitrates typically considerably higher than phosphates.

    Any sailors out here?

Any sailors out there looking for a project boat. A 25 foot fixed keel that is in need of everything. It's been sitting in the backyard filled with water, so the inside is shot. Also all new sails and rigging needed.

I wouldn't consider it acquired....more a partnership. BRS will continue to be BRS with more bucks behind them.

    RO waist water

I collect my waste water in a 55 gallon drum that has a MAG 18 in it and use the water for the washing machine (top loader = water hog). You're fine using it in the FW tank....you have approximately 25-30% increase in TDS, and that shouldn't be an issue in New Jersey....typical raw water TDS...

    MP-40 Gasket needed!

First off I'd recommend not using vinegar to clean an MP. Might wish to check out this post: Beware of Vinegar - The Pump Killer It sure sounds like you'll need a new wetside. Is the wetside you currently have the old style or new style. If it has a blocked portion of the cage, it's old...
