Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Just seeing this now. If the salt had turned into a brick, it had been exposed to moisture. I would recommend not using it, but it actually could still be used if after you readjust alk and calc. What has happened is that the alk and calc parts have precipitated into calcium...
They are definitely here, and breeding. I remember reading (I think NY Times) a story about some guy in NY who caught a bunch of baby Lions and was trying to sell them to LFS.
I went to school in Miami (located in Coral Gables).....we had a Miracle Mile there as well! Are you sure he's not singing about that one?
EDIT TO ADD:
I just looked it up and Wikipedia states that the Miracle Mile in Manhasset is the one mentioned in the Billy Joel song "It's...
I've had luck with a coffee cup of microwaved tank water (boiling) squired on the little beasts using a turkey baster. Some require two or three applications.
If this is the unit:
It doesn't take conventional replacement filters. You'll need to purchase replacements specific for Aquaticlife. I can't tell about DI resin....it does look like it might have a screw top on that cartridge. My preference is to purchase a unit that takes conventional...
If it's RO only, you will not get to zero TDS with this unit. I'd highly suggest THIS refurbished unit from Spectrapure that come with the DI portion. They call it refurbished, but it's all new filters....great deal.
Mark, I have a hole in the ground, and yes, pH control is sold by pool supply companies. I purchase the biggest bucket (I think 50 pounds) of soda ash (sodium carbonate) from Leslie's (around $60). The issue is that I don't know the purity. The great thing about Arm and Hammer Baking Soda...
@art13 I respectfully retract my Thank you and transfer that to @saltkreep88 .:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
It appears to be working well for me too. It's "cleaner" than the biopellets....they were slimming my skimmer allot more than the DIY NOPOX is doing. Now I don't know if that's a good...
My old brain is failing me....as I gave this post some thought, I don't think it was @art13 that published the above recipe, but @saltkreep88 . Help me out, who first published the above NOPOX DIY recipe of 500 mls vinegar, 375 vodka and 125 RO/DI.....and where did you get that recipe from?
I've been using the DIY NOPOX recipe that came from @art13. It simply is 500 mls Vinegar, 375 mls Vodka (40%) and 125 mls of RO/DI water. I've also seen other amounts used as well, such as 1 part vodka to 2 parts vinegar. However, I've wondered where the Art recipe came from.....and I...
For you Iodine dosers, THIS is a must read. First off, if you're dosing it, you need to be testing for it....but here's the kicker, there are no hobby test kits that are that accurate.....Salifert comes the closest for the inorganic forms of iodine, but doesn't get the iodo-organic forms. So...
Actually the filter is preferred, but not a code issue. It helps stop dust buildup in the duct work. This is especially true on these floor-level returns....and even more so if you have pets. But since it's a rental....... In addition, it does add more restriction to the entire unit, and...
That looks like an intake to me.....that also has an air filter behind it....and the front louvers look dirty to me. I'd begin by popping that off and put in a new filter and wash that grate. It's also low velocity intake and you should be able to put furniture within, maybe three inches...
