Testing with salifert titration test kits...hints?

Basically, with the kit mentioned by the OP, it doesn't matter if there's air or not. As long as the air rises to the top and isn't being initially injected. You could have 1/2 the tube full of air, but if you don't actually get to the air bubble, the song will still remain the same.

Testing with salifert titration test kits...hints?

Yeah, works fine for me. I only use their magnesium test kit, but I usually squirt darn near the whole thing into the tube, swish for a bit, then do the drip for the closeness at the end.

    Testing Your Tank - When??

I'm not the most experienced guy around, but other than pH, params should stay relatively stable throughout. I test when i have time....for ca,alk,mg that's about once a week, and for the others...well, i quit testing for nitrates and the like..i just watch my xenia. It lets me know well ahead...

    Allquatics in Hamilton/Bordentown/Trenton

Ha. I just downsized my tank, and i'm pretty happy with the size...just hard to be patient and let the frags have time to fill it up. That being said, my display tank is about 1/3 of your sump. HA!

    Finally added inverts: The photoshoot

Ha. Ok, that was funny. Here's some pictures of the new guys I picked up today..at least those who'd let me take their pictures (notice no shrimp pic yet ;)). This guy is just plain busy. He started grabbing any kind of algae he could and shoving it in his face: Always wanted one of these...

    Allquatics in Hamilton/Bordentown/Trenton

Yeah, that guy is pretty crazy. I was eyeballing him, too. I almost added on a lil' Maxima at the end, since they're only like $25 on sale. But, I didn't. I think my tank is going to get real crowded, real fast as it is.

    Allquatics in Hamilton/Bordentown/Trenton

Hey Guys, Carlo turned me on to this place a while back... Today, I left work early to head to The Hidden Reef in PA. However, the weather was terrible, and the turnpike was rolling slooooow. So, I called Allquatics while I was sitting in traffic. I wanted to get some 'verts, and an emerald...

    Lighting not working

Soldering is really easy..as long as you have wire strippers, a soldering gun/iron, and some solder...oh, and good lighting...grin. Or you can just get a wire tie or a butt connector. Not quite as good as solder, but you'd probably never notice the difference. You know the type..the little...

    Lighting not working

Well, considering it's brand new, I'd probably just return it, swap it out, whatever. I'm sure you paid a pretty penny for it anyhow.

    Shore collecting for my tank

Phyl...time to fire up a nano tank! Maybe try all natural, no skimmer, just circulation and macro...like mine..I've sure been enjoying it!

    Lighting not working

This is probably a stupid question, but did you swap the bulbs and make sure they both worked? Other than that, maybe pull it apart and check wiring. Have a volt meter?

    Potter anyone?

Last week I ran across a post on a forum that listed who died and on which pages. I thought it was a ruse and sent it to a co-worker who loves the series. Turns out it was 100% dead on. Man was he mad! :P

    huge tank

Yeah, I spent HOURS staring at that tank while my dog was getting cancer surgery. Pretty amazing setup. I think my favorite part was playing 'find the hawkfish'. Either that or watching the hippo tangs swim in fast circles the entire time. Amazing tank, that's for sure!

    I've started my changeover

Personally, I think drilling, glueing, etc is kind of a bad idea. You never know if you're going to like the scape, and you never know if you're going to have to dissassemble or move around the structure. You have to get fish out, or you get an invert that falls between the cracks, or...well...

I can see why some people refer to xenia as a weed...

    Here's mine on 6/28: Here's mine 3 weeks later on 7/20:

How long do BTA's eat for?

Yeah, probably just a lil shy in the new tank. :)

    Additives

I guess I'm new, but from everything I've read, if you don't have a test kit for it, don't put it in the tank. Showing pics of getting frags and then showing them after they've been in your tank for a month isn't really a good indicator of whether or not the additive worked very well, IMO. It...

    Coral Beauty and Flame Angel

I'd say you're good too, Mike. I know those rocks you got from me are pretty much cured, and those snails are some hearty little fellas.

    Coral Beauty and Flame Angel

The place by my house does that too. One system, with lots of sand in each tank, and plenty of ich to go around the whole system. Learned that AFTER it transfered to my ol' 55g.
