    Joys of DIY project

James, I can not stress enough the importance of having a secondary float switch on an ATO (or any float switch application). The primary switch will fail (mine has failed twice in the eight years I've had the tank.) The latest just a week ago. Even those fancy-pants, high priced...

DIY Float Switch on the Cheap

Thanks James....this was a fun little project. It evolved as I put it together and was unsure if it would work in the end. All worked out! And @Canadia_eh , I agree....I just vinegar soaked my float switches used for my ATO on my DT. Need to clean them occasionally. Of course, a week or...

    Quiet One 4000 Pump - $20 - Sayreville

Quiet One 4000 pump for sale. I believe this pumps around 1000 gph. Works great. Would make a great pump to pump fresh saltwater into your tank. Has 1 inch NPT inlet and outlet threads. If you're interested, I believe I have a tubing adapter I can throw in as well. Pick up in...

    Red Sea 130D AIO

I was not aware you had a Mantis shrimp......he's the guilty one....a real fish killer. You're not finding the bodies because after he blasts them with his extremely powerful click, he grabs the fish, drags it into his lair, and eats it.

    Red Sea 130D AIO

First off, what are the two suspects remaining in your tank? Secondly, could it be a hitchhiker crab? Flashlight at night might help....or some type of trap.

Mark, if you're using it for primary flow, I think it would work just fine. You're welcome to stop by and see it in action.

    Inherited 90

Juan, I've ordered a PP-8. If your interest is to add it to the back wall, see Joe's (@horseplay ) comment above....he feels the 8 would be too strong on the back wall. When it comes in, you're welcome to stop by and see how it works. @Sunny is also running an 8 (I think on the back wall)...

Mark, I'm at 90 gallons. They would be perfect as primary pumps, but I'm just looking to add a little flow in dead spots.

You are too kind. Let me think about it Sunny....not sure if I need to see it or not. I just looked up the numbers on these: PP15 900GPH to 3400GPH [Recommended for 60 to 150 gallons] PP8 800GPH to 2000GPH [Recommended for 30 to 60 gallons] PP4 530GPH to 1000GPH [Recommended...

    NIB Jebao Wavemaker Powerhead PP-15

I just purchased two of these to supplement two MP-40's. In trying one, I have it set to the lowest setting and that's more than enough. So I now want to sell the other one and pick up either a PP-8 or PP-4. Selling New In Box, never seen water, Jebao PP-15 Wavemaker for the same price I...

    Sunny's 350G build (was 150)

Put in a piece of white egg crate and see if it grows on that. My first thought is that the growth is living off the mold release agent used on the egg crate.

Thanks Juan, but I don't believe I'm leaking where the tubing meets the threaded 1/2 inch rod. If you look at the picture where I show the water in the tubing, you'll see two small zip ties securing the tubing to this threaded rod. I think the water was getting in by coming up the threads...
