My current filters are 2 Emperor 400s, which are probably about the same thing. I was actually thinking of using rubble inmside them for filtration.
My forthcoming protein skimmer is a flotor biostar, which is a skimmer and a hob filter system with some form of biowheel. I was thinking that...
No sump or fuge yet. Just live rock and some HOT filtration.
So far my water parameters have been tits the whole time since it cycled *given that was only about a week or two ago*.
I actually won a protein skimmer on ebay yesterday, so that'll be here soon.
Thanks for all the advice, guys.
Re: Any thoughts on this eBay lighting solution?
Yeah, thanks Ed...I'd like that. Not too many people around me have nice setups, and other than the pet store and pictures from online, I haven't seen too many up close either.
Thanks, guys. I'm going to let it cure for a few days, do some tests and some water changes, and go from there.
I'd really like to ensure that i get some good life in my rocks sometime, as I haven't noticed anything moving around on the ones in my tank yet.
Maybe I just need more time, or...
Awesome! Finally a friggin store in my neck of the woods.
The best place I've found so far around here has been a Petco, believe it or not. Best selection, prices, and even the best LR I've seen for sale.
Actually, if I may edit my post, while they had lots of good stuff in there, the guy...
So, I had to buy some dog chow @ the local pet store. I asked them if they had any live rock and this guy said they had some pieces upstairs, but a bunch of nice looking ones downstairs.
So we go downstairs and he has a huge tub full of rock, probably 200 lbs+
He says they just bought that...
Re: Any thoughts on this eBay lighting solution?
I would guess I would probably have to call the fire department and find a new place to live.
Good point. ;)
I'm basically just trying to find some decent lighting for ~$100. Could be a little more, could be a little less. Just not sure of what...
I was doing some reading, and someone mentioned this site: www.oceanpods.com
...and I was wondering if there were any reason not to order a bottle of the little fellas?
Trying to keep my tank in as good of shape as possible, ya know. ;)
It's a Canon SD400. For a point/shoot, it's a really nice camera. Although I can see the use of a dslr would be sweetness.
I also think more light in my tank (1 35 watt florescent right now) would help significantly and not require the flash for good pics.
I've cut some glass for inserts on my coffee table. It's actually pretty easy. Lowes/HD sell glass cutting kits. It's like oil and something to etch it, and then you tap it and it breaks.
Not sure if that's what you're interested in, though.
Well, I tried for about 20 minutes to get a picture, and can't seem to get a good one. That's one swimmin' little fish.
He seems awfully happy, I'll give him that!
Well, I bought him and took him home. i tested my water while I was floating his bag. Everything looked excellent on my params. Then, I grabbed a clean plastic bowl (that i just use for fishtank related stuff) and poured him in, and then every 10 minutes I added a little of my tank water, and...
