I have 2 emeralds one in the main display which eats bubble alge all if he can find it, and one in my sump which apparently could not care to eat bubble alge even if the sump is spotless
Thw tank is neaar a window but opening makes no difference. I have left th ewindows open for the last 3 days with no change.
The sump is in the basement in the same room with the AC unit (whole house forced air)
I have powerheads on both the main tank and the sump agitating the water. I also...
I have 2 PH probes in the tank (one in the display tank upstair and one in the sump in hte basement) there is a difference of .02 between both of them so I know they are calibrated. Also If i put the Probe in refeence solution is spot on.
Parameters are as follows SG 1.025 ALK 10.9 CA 450 MG 1400 PH 7.86
I have a calcium and a kalk reactor
Kalk is being used to replace evaporated water but lately (since summer started and the AC is on) my evaporation has dropped significantly so I cant replace enough water to get the ph up
If I...
I am fighting low PH issues again and came up with what I think is a plan to figure out if excess CO2 is causing the problem.
I am going to mix a batch of salt and split it into 2 containers each with a maxijet for aereation.
I will place one outside and one inside next to my sump and leave them...
I had the same issue with bubbles even going through my bubble traps. I put bioballs in the bubble trap and now the bubbles are not making it to the display at all
My LFS confesed that all their dry rock they have come from customer tanks. They have a bleach bucket in the back where they put the rock in for 1 week then it goes into an RO bucket for a week. After that they dry and put it in the store. When we buy dry rock that it is completely white it has...
For some reason I feel better about using a mecanical solution as opposed to the electronic one, but if I can find a better solution then I will go the electronic route
I have an APEX. I have a PH probe in my tank and one in my calcium reactor. I dont have a problem with PH going high but as a backup to the float switch I have a solenoid valve in the RO side of the KALK reactor that will shut it of if ph goes over 8.5. As it is my PH is rarely over 8.
I am using kalk in my ro water to control ph. I have a large reservoir of RO that feeds into a kalk reactor. Top off is controlled with a coralife float valve.
I am having an issue where my float valve gets "kalkcified" in about 3-4 days and then RO no longer gets dispensed and neither thats...
