If you have actinics then only use that. You can leave the MH off for now. Better to let the nutrients burn out without the lights to inspire algae growth at this point. When you do start up the MH phase them in an hour or so a week until you're up to 6 hours.

I'd go T5s. That solves a lot more problems than it creates!

I only see October 24th on their website. Which two vendors were there? What did each speaker speak on and how were they?

Did you go to see the speakers? That was probably going to be the best part of the event! Was the turnout good? What vendors were there? From what I can tell it was only a 1 day conference though, not two. 20$ isn't a whole lot to pay to see 4 industry speakers, even without the vendors.

Nitrates can't be fixed with a PO4 reactor. That fixes PO4. Nitrates are controlled by removing detritus, water changes, skimming, reduced feedings, etc. 6g water change would reduce your NO3 by .04 per week, providing you didn't add any more to the system through feedings.

PCs are terrible. I wouldn't use them. The color spectrum shifts around 5 mo. You need to replace the bulbs too often. MH are overkill on a 30. Stick with T5s.

Once the water is clear you'll want to test it after a week/two weeks to see what your ammo/trite/trate numbers are. When they're all back down to zero and STAY at zero then it is cycled.
