Wow John, you and those micrometer eyes.....good catch. Yes, there is a difference. First off, the new model has 24 slot openings around the entire cage while the old model has 25 openings, and that is with 1 7/8 inches blocked up. I was too lazy to break out my machinest calipers, but...
Two MP40 Wetsides Died - One New MP40 Wetside Arrived!
I ended up loosing two MP40 wetsides by the magnet's plastic case being compromised....and bleach accelerating the oxidation of the magnet, causing it to swell. I documented that HERE. I did order one new wetside and.......Woooo...
I'm like a toddler on Christmas Eve, with my face pressed against the window, waiting for Santa to arrive.
My new wetside is being delivered today by the Santa.....I mean UPS.
WooHoo!!!!
I have vermetid snails. I would prefer not to have them, but it is a cross I have to bear. Every once in a while I go on the war path and start snapping them off. I think the only thing this does is to satisfy me in some way. I think the little piece that is left behind is enough to...
It really doesn't matter. You're interrupting the hot wire with a switch. If any white wires are in the box, they should simply be wire nutted together on their way to whatever. You're good either way. However, if you know the "hot" side, attach that to the black side.
Thanks John. As I gave this additional thought, I remember looking at parts about two years ago, and they had the ceramic bearing and shaft and back plate, and I no longer see that stuff on their parts page. I'm assuming they want to push you to purchasing the new wetside, and just pitch...
Yes, seven years.....and here is my justification for not stomping around like a two year old with a tantrum. I purchased four Koralia Evolution 1400 powerheads a number of years ago, and I think the last one died at about a years time. That was a $50 year per powerhead. I now had this...
The MP10 and MP40 are designed differently. The MP10 magnet, plate and impeller are intergral components,
while the MP40, everything is its own separate part. It can be totally taken apart.
Ed, I shouldn't be complaining.....seven years on this magnificent powerhead from Ecotech Marine.....seven! When you have seven years on that Gyre, we'll talk! If you wish, I'll send you an empty box to collect all the broken parts you'll collect over the next six years. After this six...
John, I was surprised to see this.....that is, the magnets available. I remember a number of years ago someone cracking their magnet, and not being able to purchase just the magnet.
Now I just went on the Ecotech site and could not find the magnets. HERE are the six items that I found...
Thanks for the responses and the generous offers everyone.......well, maybe with the exception of Ed, please, Gyre!
I've learned a very expensive lesson today.
The magnets, which I thought were one magnet....all magnet/metal, are in fact encased in plastic all the way around...
Did I ruin two MP40 wetsides?
I'm pooping in my pants. The only thing I did differently (and for the first time) was to soak them in dilute bleach solution (a cap full in a pint of water).
Here's what I found.....The wetside spinning in its entirety in the tank. To clarify, the entire...
Holy crap Darren, you've got a ........wait, what do they call a group of anemones; a gaggle, a herd, a pack, a tribe, a colony......I looked it up and could not find a proper name for a group of anemones. However, in your case Darren, you have a crap load of anemones! Nice looking stuff...
