    What do you plan on keeping? I also don't think 2x400 would give you the coverage you'd need unless you were using lumenarc reflectors.

    The airline is actually attached to an aqualifter, which keeps the air out of the overlfow. HOBs definitely allow for more of a chance of overflow... overflowing. You can use enough high/low water sensors to overcome this, if you're creative.

    This time of year, unless you keep your house really cold, I'm sure the temps aren't going to be outrageously low in your tank. If it is at least 75 I think you'd be ok.
