If it’s hard I think it’s a vermatid snail. I would take a pair of bone cutters and snip at the shell to break it. If you have peppermints in your tank they’ll clean it out....

Mine is from Amazon, and is very similar. It works for what we need for algae identification. I didn't get a case, but I added an adapter for my phone camera so I can get pics.
