    Dangerdave’s reef

The scrubber is in its final location. With the main drain installed I can run at full flow. I still have to measure it but I think I have about 250-300gph running over the screen. One thing down, like 15 more to go. I ordered another table for the new frag tank. Once it gets here I’ll...

    Rob’s 2020-120

I would dose the nitrates up and hold it at what ever number you want. I’ve been keeping mine at 10-20. I wouldn’t be worried about going up to fast, I had a spill and over dosed. I did a 10% gallon water change immediately (40g) and started making another 50g. While it was mixing I tested...

    Space invader vs Hawkins

I think the constant barrage from the space invader will eventually win the war. Those were small, they can send out some long distance bombers...

    Time to switch brand

+1 Hanna, the alk test is very fast and reliable in my experience. I used the Red Sea alk test in the reefbot for a while, it was mostly reliable for me there. It matched for me doing it manually when I compared also. I moved to the trident because I had to refill the reagent to often. First...

    Cyanobacteria

Like everyone said, don’t rush it. Start by understanding your nutrient levels, if you don’t you’re shooting at the target blindfolded.

    Bubble algae acclimating???

I would have scraped it off, and used a toothbrush to lightly clean the plug with h202 before I put it in.

To clean a sand bed or not.....That is the question

I voted no, but the two tanks I have sand in have very little sand...maybe a half inch on average. There are bare spots in the back due to flow. So it’s turned often, no worries for me. :)

    Let’s build a tank

agreed. Power head and a good temp and you’ll be ok. Plenty of people run a reef with no sump.

    Trident users

A fella from r2r is selling needle guides for the trident reagents. If your using a trident, this will eliminate the issue of the reagent needles angling and pulling air to mess up your alk/mag readings. Trident Reagent Guide You can reset the trident and use ALL the remaining reagent using...
