    Bubble tip split

I have one from the meet, it’s the same coloring as the one I got from @Sponge. The one from the meet hasn’t split. The other one has split twice now for a total of four. I notice when I directly feed them meaty food daily, they tend to grow fast and split. Same with the other bta. I...

Crazy how these reef work (or don’t work) sometimes. I would think light issues would be short time issues. Some I have up around 220 par, other at 60. They all got used to their spot. Some colonies will in my DT will close for a week while the others stay open. I haven’t learned why.

That’s odd. I mean the nutrient difference sounds like an obvious contender. Could be that with any combo of lighting and flow difference. How does the flow compare?

    Plumbing a new Reef Tank

I used an over the rim overflow that I built from pvc for over 10 years. If you build it correctly, it will work. You will need to keep an aqualifter running 24x7 to be positive that the syphon will restart after a power outage. I was never comfortable with it. For me it was in my garage...

Algae scrubber who uses one and why

I like this idea. It’s the same fitting on my kalk stirrer. How do I get this to attach to the pvc spray bar though? It looks one sided, like it should be glued into something.

Algae scrubber who uses one and why

That’s how my last one was. It was a pin in the butt. I’m going to add a union right on the cross bar so I can disconnect at the scrubber and carry over. Plan B (if it too bulky) is nice soft silicone tubing that comes on and off easy, just release the clamp. I have the gfo reactor set up in...

Algae scrubber who uses one and why

I started making one last night. I used an acrylic box that was made for displaying cereal boxes (who does that?). I need to make a better seal, the corners aren’t fully glued. I’ll probably just silicone it, but if I get to Home Depot by the time I’m done I’ll get the acrylic stuff. It’s a...
