i just have to decide to retro the coralife or just pay a few extra bucks for a new light all together.. maybe i'll look at getting a t5/MH light and say heck with it.. the 55 is kinda her tank now i think and alot of people might not see the big tank all the time.
we started at 11am and it's 530pm now.. we took the tank off took the stand apart, shortened it and put it back together.. put the sump underneath, plumbed the overflows to the sump. and came up with an idea for the plumbing on the returns.. now i'm thinking of using a Mag drive return pump. not...
OK so im about to break this light i have.. If anyone can measure their t5's width wise that would be great. I may be able to retro this light .. at $35 a pop this is the third 10000k to burn out in 2 months.
Updates..
picked up a 40 gal long sump (thanks Joe!).. going to use this as a sump only then use a 10 or bigger for a refuge just above it. i will have a t coming off he return pump trickling water into the refuge then gravity feeding the sump...
Lighting.. I think that the light rail may be...
i'm buying a 40gal sump from Joe (theguyfromnj) who built it then decided it was too PITA to move everything and switch it out :) Bax had some great idea's for this tank
Wendy your avatar always startles me for some reason as soon as it pops up.. at least till my eyes focus on it and realize it's a fish lol... wierd, i dunno
do you have a standard return pipe or a Durso pipe? I think most people shoot for a return GPH of 5X your tank volume.. as long as your overflow can keep up with your return or vice-versa then you should be fine. check out below
some links for you..
